no ipod control.

<quote>If vehicle is equipped with factory remote mounted CD changer (not the in-dash 6-disc CD changer), or factory XM tuner or remote mounted CD/MP3 player, it MUST be disconnected to use the HON/AUX DMX V.2.</quote>

Looks like it will disable XM.

what's the big deal here?!?! I remember someone else found an adapter a LONG TIME AGO that's used in accords, that would work in our tl, but you would have to disable your XM...

I thought blitzsafe was going to build an adapter so that we could MAINTAIN our XM!?!? WTF?

so, there's no real progress here!!

Nope, the adapter a LONG TIME AGO didn't work properly. You had to hack at it to get it to work, and it was a real pain in the butt to make it work. I have it. I'm in Canada so I don't have XM, but it is still the case with the US head unit. This new AUX adapter will eliminate the need for hacking, but yes, it will have the XM problem unfortunately.

The new Blitzsafe adapter looks like it still has the Sony CD-Changer connector on it as did the old Blitzsafe adapter (which I have installed in my car). I'm wondering if there might be a Sony CD-Changer to iPod control cable or something. That way we could use steering wheel and disc-changing controls to control the iPod. Does anyone know anything about this?

Looks like this is better option for people who don't have Navi:

It doesn't say anything about disabling XM.

Even though that item says it works on the 2004-05 TL, I kinda doubt it does. I'm sure it's part of the older generation Blitzsafe adapters which didn't properly work on 3rd gen TLs. I would be wary of buying that product.

do you realize what they are selling you?

basically it';s honda extension harness, and spliced into that are RCA cables(you just don't see it since it's inside a black box.

send me 100 bucks and i can make the same thing for you, just won't be as pretty

I have a feeling this unit won't let you keep your XM! As far as I know, there still hasn't been a plug-n-play device out yet. There is plenty of talk, but no proof.

Once again, I don't think this unit will let you keep XM and add an aux in.

They are selling it for $100, so why would anyone pay for yours?

The site already says it disables XM.

So the one made for non-Navi cars doesn't work?

[QUOTE]

i was just making a point that you can do this yourself for about 40 bucks, and not have to cut your car harness

You can't do this yourself. I opened up my AUX box and analyzed it. It definitely needs firmware to tell the head unit that it is present. The head unit won't even GIVE a CD-C option unless you have the AUX box connected because a chip in the AUX box identifies itself to the head unit through the bus line.

The problem with the first generation of AUX units for the 3rd gen TL was that the firmware was not correct for our head units. Supposedly, this new generation has updated firmware that is compatible with our head unit.

gb,

You do have to remove the head unit to get to the back of it. You will tuck the Blitzsafe adapter to the left of the head unit. Then plug the adapter into the AUX port of the head unit. It'll have the XM harness plugged in now, but just disconnect that as you know you are losing it...

ya, so far I got the grey carbon trim off, and played around removing screws and trying to see how it will come out. I am having some trouble flying blind here and figuring out how the head unit comes out. I dont want to break anything, and I dont have the helms manual. So i probably will have to leave it till saturday unless someone can explain the best way to remove the head unit. Easiest way, and time needed to do it would help. It looks like I have to remove the side grey trim, that goes down the sides of the console and meets at glove box. To get this off it also looks like i need to remove glove box. Dunno if I got this wrong. but again any help would be appreciated with this. Thanks
