My company just bought me a Blackberry 7100g to replace my Nokia 6820. I paired it up with my TL, and set the HandsFreeLink device to "Trusted" so that it pairs automatically when I get in the car.

However, if my phone is locked (and I have to have a password/timeout on it by corporate security standards), I cannot place an outgoing call - the phone does not respond to the HFL dial commands unless it is unlocked.

I have been unable to find a setting to change this - does anyone out there have any ideas on resolving this?

I just got a new 7290 Blackberry from my company as well. And paired it up to my new 3 week old 06 TL and found the same problem which is just a real pain in the a$$.

Luckily I'm now the Blackberry admin for the company and had to find a way to get around this. A security policy that they push out to the devices is set to lock the device after a certain period of time. There is a policy setting on the server to allow the device to make outgoing calls while the device is locked. Once that is sent out to the device, you need to go to Options -> Security and enable that feature.

Now I just need to see if I can get this change past "team security" at my company without them having a kanipshen before I can test if this will solve the problem.

But basically if your company's IT guys don't want to make this change, you're screwed.

Had the same problem with my 7100g, then found the option on the paired device that allowed me to set "Allow outgoing calls" to yes. Now I can place calls without unlocking the phone. The path to get to this is "Settings", "Bluetooth", select the paired device, then click options.

That option isn't available on mine - probably to do with the security policy.
