Unhappy Big problem with the handsfreelink system

Hi guys,

Need your help,

It all started with the Phonebook no longer being accessible: When I send the commande Phonebook LIST ---> I would get phonebook is empty " even though I had more than 20 name programmed" then when I send the commande phonebook ADD I would get phonebook is FULL

I have two phones paired with handsfreelink system: Motorola V710 and a Blackberry 7290. This problem started when I paired the second phone which was the Blackberry ...

I called Acura client service and they told me to try deleting the 2 phones from the handsfreelink system .... what a dumm idea ...

Now I longer can access the handfreelink system: I GET THE MESSAGE

SYSTEM IS BOOTING and nothing happens

Has anyone seen this problem ????

Thanks

try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. this generally resolves most HFL system errors. you will need to enter the radio/navi codes again though.

Wow !!!

That's a big step !!!

I might do it nothing else is possible !!!

Is there a possibility to reset the HFL system without disconnecting the battery ?

I don't think so. Go to your dealer if you do not want to disconnect the battery. They will likely do the same thing after troubleshooting it.

I have read on this forum that there is a fuse that can be removed but not sure which one...

I had a similar problem once. I deleted my phone so I could connect to another device with it; when I was done, I tried to re-add the phone. If I said "list", it would say "no phones", but when I would try to pair, it would say "phone already paired" and crash the system.

Try the "phone setup" "clear" commands. That will accomplish what you want without having to disconnect the fuse. That worked for me, but I did have to re-add all my phonebook numbers.

The problem is I can't access anymore the HFL ...

The message ''HFL booting UP'' is displayed on the MID and no command is accepted anymore.

When I press on the HFL button on the steering nothing is happening ....

Does anyone know if I can disconnect the fuse and which one ???

Just disconnect the battery. It will save you a lot of time and effort. Or - go to the dealer, let them do it for you.

If you really want to find the fuse, pull off the cover for the fuse and see if there is any reference to the HFL system (doubtful, but you can try).

I will check teh service manual to see if it mentions the fuse.

At this point I doubt anybody here can help you. Best bet is to go back to the dealer and allow them to troubleshoot the HFL system. It may simply be a faulty unit and they should replace it under warranty. Good luck, let us know how it works out and what they did.

Just an update.

Car spent 3 days at the dealer ... and then finally they concluded that it's a faulty HFL module.

Replaced it and everything is A1 now

Mine has been acting up recently also - even after disconnecting the battery. If I try to pair a new phone after deleting an old phone, it simply will not let me unless I shut off the car and try again an later. I am not sure why it does that. But at least they fixed yours.

I hate disconnecting the battery -- then I have to go call XMRadio again and have my radio re-learn the satellite signal -- pain in the ass.

Mine HFL hasn't worked from the get go, just purchased my TL a little over a week ago. When I press the HFL button, no prompts and I also received the "booting up" message in the MID when I select HFL. I turned it into the dealer this morning to get it fixed, hopefully they just don't disconnect the battery to resolve the issue, seems like a faulty HFL and it should be replaced. I would hate to disconnect my battery everytime this happens, like Peterubers said, it's a pain in the ass to set all the custom settings again. I'll let you all know if I get any useful information.
