Big 3 inline fuse rating

i'm doing a semi-big 3 upgrade and running 4 ga wire from my alt + to my battery + and putting in an inline fuse close to the battery. i have a 100A fuse leftover from my audio install...can i use that? or do i need a larger one such as 150A?

thanks

I used 100A fuse no problem. I have an accord but am running the TL 130Amp alternator. Still all good.

Hey whats up! when you do a big three u dont wanna put a fuse between the battery and the alternator, the fuse will only limited the current.

Everything I've researched and read said to do it. I'd rather be safe than sorry

Interesting, I installed 1/0 gauge from alt to battery, all the grounds, battery to fusebox, and obviously running to my amp in the trunk. Did not fuse the alternator, only fuse is on the amp line right on top of the battery and at my distribution block where I go down to 4 gauge to fit the amp terminal. No issues thus far

Fuse would only limit the current if it wasn't a properly rated fuse..

i would highly recommend getting a fuse on the alt to battery cable as close to the battery as you can. everywhere i read said you should have one. it's not that not having it would give you issues, but prevents a short out in a particular scenario and starting a fire, which we all know is not ideal haha

i would get one on there right away
