Best Setup for a JL W7??
#41
I guess Imma have to Start from the rear and work my way up. I'm just worried about the Loc and all that crap to hook up to the factory radio, Since im staying with the Factor radio I didn't want to mess with any Highs or Mids, I'm scared of getting interference sounds and shit. I figured Ill start from the back and go to the front. I know I can tap into the OEM stock Sub wiring and add the loc there. I'm Just use to using aftermarket radios and its so much easier that way. Run ur RCAs from the head to the amp and there ur good to go... But since I have the TL-S im not trying to get a new head unit

Can you show me a link to a processor that you are talking about? I really haven't messed with OEM head units that much and this is my only issue with doing audio in my car. I know I've had a lot of shitty Luck when I was younger using Locs on my friends cars.

Ported with the sub through the arm rest and port through the stock sub hole will be hard, but could be very nice. I don't even know if it is possible, but it probably is for a box building pro.
Do not use a LOC. Just wire directly if you need to, but a processor would be better.

When you go to install this, get some 6 channel RCAs similar to these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/STINGER-6-CHANNE...item53e5e33dce
Run them up to the stock amp and then back into the trunk.
Use one of the channels for the sub and leave the others in there. You can use the rest later if you add onto your system.
You can cut the heads off the RCAs and wire the individual wires into the pre-amp wires. This will avoid the LOC and give you the best possible sound quality for your system.

500/1
Damn See Im In between Both now FML. I need Something small Like a 10 because Im tryna still have stunk space to use. Between the Two (JL W7-10 vs ssa xcon 12) What size box could I get away with? The Setup of the W7 with the JL 500/1 Amp is maybe 100 Cheaper than the SSA Xcon12 with the Sundown 1500 Combo. HUMMmMMm

Click "2-RCA Cables" at the selection box up top. This is where I/EVERYONE buys all their home audio cables, etc and I've used them many many times and never had a regret. Great quality, great C.S.

I've dealt with JL products for many years and in all honesty I think the W7's are the biggest wastes of money. It may have a ton of patents but its overall sound quality just lacks. Its made to do 1 thing and 1 thing only and thats being loud. The W6 is by far a more superior sub in every aspect imo.

You probably have not heard one that's setup right.
Unfortunately people take jl's best sq sub and put it in a spl box since it happens to have excellent output capability too.
Don't get me wrong I'm a JL fan boy and will always prefer there equipment over almost any company. I just find the W7 to be an overpriced woofer thats made to be loud in any form of use whether it be SQ or SPL and that is why I made the above comment.

I think the W7 drivers are fine in the correct box with the right amplification. If you check out their home sub systems, I believe they use the same drivers as they do for the mobile space. Those home systems are among the most highly regarded systems amongst "experts" in both output and sound quality. And yes if you pay MSRP all Jl Audio products are really overpriced as they will sell at stupid mark-ups. This is what happens when people actually have heard of the "brand".
