i know beltronics rx65 is one of the best out there, but is it worth $220 when the cobra xrs 9945 has the same detection features and all that and its only $127? which one would you get? thanks!

I would definitely get the Bel. Cobra detectors are not known to be very good. If you want to spend a little less then the Bel but want get detection take a look at Whistler detectors.

i have a rx65 and love it. i disabled all the frequencies except for laser and ka though. dont be surprised if u buy it and it goes off saying KA but theres no cops in sight though. just know that it will save u when the time comes and if it doesnt go off but u still see a cop, it just means they dont have their radar detector on which means they cant ticket you for speeding but they can for other things... so still stay alert

Get the Beltronics or a new/used Escort 8500 or 8500 X50.

Owned Cobra for 6+ years never and issue and has saved me and paid for itself numerous times over and over. I have the 9945 in my TL and works great. Never used Beltronics, think they are overpriced.

Here is a great article on these two and few others http://www.radartest.com/article_3.asp?articleid=100623

and personally why cheap out on a radar detector, when it pays for itself the first time it saves you (not only the ticket fees, but also increased insurance costs)

chump change, when you consider ticket fines, court costs, and increased insurance premiums (which is what really hurts your pocket book)

I'm sure you can find V1's for cheaper than $500 if you look around. Might even find one used...

used maybe, but gotta make sure it is not reported stolen (by going to Valetine's website, and checking; cause they keep track when people report it to them)

as far as finding one cheaper new (iirc list is only like $450, but $500 is a easier number to work with though), no such thing as finding deals, because they can only be bought through Valentine themselves, to help control discounts and such (but what you get though is a detector that is constantly rated in the top three though)

Yeah...I just meant used, my bad. Hardwire the V1 and your set. Directional detection/warnings, etc...you'll be set

I 100% agree with the n00b^^^ I picked up a K band two miles away no problem. They are amazing and well worth the buck.

I've got the Bel GX65 and LOVE it. I had a Bel 995 before and I can't believe how much better this new one is when it comes to false alerts. It used to be 80% of alarms were false alerts, now 80% are actually cops and I haven't even bothered using the GPS lockout feature yet! Granted, it was way expensive but it's worth it not to have to deal with all the false alerts. Also, the other day I picked up a cop from five miles away on K band. Granted, I first picked him up when I was at the top a hill and it was long and flat after that but still, amazing range.
