Aux Power Outlets

I just got my 2006mt and have noticed that the Aux Power Outlets turn off with the power on the car. In previous vehicles I have owned this was not the case. Is there any way to change is option? It's pretty handy to be able to charge a cell phone while your not in the car.

Thanks!

Dude, it's his first post, give him a break. As you go along, you will find that search is your friend, but I will point you in the right direction this first time. Welcome to the forum!

I did the same bypass of the relay. Works great, the only thing for me is the phone never leaves the car. Phone, when I do take out of car has very short battery life.

Welcome, also!

Coming from a Z3, my only cigarette lighter stayed on all the time and I hated it! I installed a 2nd one that would turn my GPS on and off with the car. I guess that is not necessary in this one due to the built in navi

...and run your battery down? I guess not if it's in there for a long time.

Sure, just replaced the switched 12V lead on the power sockets with a constant 12V wire from either the battery or an existing line in the fuse box.

You should never constantly charge your cellphone in your car or at home. It screws up the charge capacity and when off the charger will only last a few minutes.

It can be interpreted many ways. We know you were trying to be helpful.

At any rate, its more helpful to suggest keywords for a search or perform a quick search for them than just replying "do a search."

I think the OP's question has been answered, so its all good. Thanks guys!
