AUX button stopped working
AUX button stopped working
Hey guys, I have a 08 TL no NAV. Recently the AUX button on the radio which is really designated as AUX/XM stopped supplying the input to the AUX port. What's funny about it is it seems like the button is functional as it toggles between the two XM radio options just fine. Just yesterday when I pushed the "AUX/XM" button it would toggle between the two XM stations and then AUX. (This is what I was used to seeing on the readout).
This is not a matter of the readout saying AUX but no sound like a bad cable or anything like that but rather the readout has stopped reading AUX like it's not even an option anymore. The button only toggles with two XM options now. Very frustrating as I have looked around the forums and Internet for some guidance but only seem to find people trying to ADD aux options. Anybody else with a XM/AUX button have this problem?
Thanks
Charlie

I'm such an idiot!
I had the hardest time believing that my cable could have just gone bad from the night before so I did not delve deep enough into the issue. For the record I checked my ipod cable on the outside and also dug deep in the console (where the ipod connector lives in my TL) and checked the connection in there. I did the usual visual inspection on the cable, unplug wipe it off and plugged it back in with no luck and determined that something was wrong with my button since it was not showing AUX anymore. Anyway long story short I pulled out the cable and went to the store tonight and got a new one and voila the AUX button is now one of the toggle options again. Apparently the cable had some kind of break under the insulation. I thought about deleting my post but thought I better leave it in here as my stupidity might help somebody else in the future.
Thanks Shellready for moving this thread and I'll try and post it in the right spot next time.
