Auto dimming rear view and bright NAV

Hey all, yet another problem with my new TL. I have noticed that my rear view mirror does not appear to dim at all regard of the button position, and my navigation screen never goes into night brightness and it's pretty darn bright when it's dark outside. Are these things linked in some way? Are there settings I need to be checking?

Thanks!

When the auto-dim button on the rear view mirror is pushed in, is it lit?
That button should light up when auto-dimming is activated.

Go to the brightness setting and back the setting off one bar or more from maximum.

Test by turning on the headlights, then push the MAX button (above the brightness adjust switch) on and off.
With "MAX" on, the Navi will stay in bright Day Mode. With MAX off, the Navi should go to the darkened Night Mode.

OK, so the button is pushed in and the little light comes on but the mirror does not appear to dim at all when cars are behind. I will continue to observe, but it certainly does not work like the mirror on my Subaru. Maybe I just haven't driven enough at night yet, but I have not seen it dim at all.

This one is solved. I verified that the NAV does indeed go into night mode when moving the headlights from auto to on. Then I moved the brightness down 1 notch and the NAV screen will dim in auto

The auto-dim works pretty quickly, so your TL mirror may have a leak or just gone bad. Check for fluid leakage on it and on the center stack. If there's evidence of leakage or it just doesn't dim, a new mirror is needed to have auto-dimming.

Another way to test your mirror is to cover the front sensor with your finger. If the mirror does not start to darken down, I would assume it is time for a replacement.
