Auto Accept on the 'OK' prompt?

Anyone know if there are any mods to auto accept the 'ok' prompt on the navi?? It is a little silly to have to click ok each and every time you get in the car (thanks to the lawyers)!!

I sure would like to know that too. But another thing i was wondering about is how to go from the map/guide screen to the clock only, as if you didnt hit the OK button in teh begining.

I agree, but I think we are stuck with the disclaimer screen, unless you want to strike the touch screen very hard with a hammer. That's a mod with some degree of permanence.

Hmmm. I just tried this and now there is a giant hole right where the 'ok' prompt used to be. Now I cannot click ok no matter how hard I try!!

Not that I know of.

In my car, if I don't hit the OK button, the screen just turns off.

There's also an option in the menus to turn the screen off manually.

With the nav screen turned off, all you can see is the clock (in the separate LCD panel above the nav screen). Perhaps that's what he means?

You might be right but it would be damn cool if the clock pops up on the navi.?? Like another hidden feature.

It would be a pretty kick-ass screen saver.

Ideally, someone can try to hack the DVD disc. Until that time...

One of the great things that I like about the TL's navi system is that you don't need to hit the touch-screen to select "OK". Instead, you can press the center of the silver "joystick" and avoid wearing a hole in the protective screen material like you see at the ATM machines.

its not the disc that requests the OK to be pressed, its built into the ROM chip on the navi hardware. You would have to hack the ROM chip or bypass it, the disc has nothing to do with it. I believe someone on the TSX forums had posted something a BMW person came up with to bypass the ok button on BMW's navis, but it was also priced rediculously, somewhere around $200 I believe.

I know a lot of people have asked about any mods to get rid of the disclaimer screen. I think that most people don't care about the screen so much as they just don't want to have to press the dang Ok button every time. I, personally, would be perfectly fine with having the disclaimer screeen show up for the amount of time it does now... then go straight to the map, but I absolutely hate having to press Ok every time. Anyone who finds a cheap but effective way automatically get past that Ok button would have my undying gratitude.

you could do that with the 2nd Gen TL Navi. (1999 and 2000, etc)
by touching the clock on the bottom right of the screen, you could change the clock's position. If you don't aknowledge the Navi Disclaimer, it would leave the clock in the middle of the screen...

I think it a was nice use of the screen...

I have not found this feature on our new 04's

Unforutnately, no Navi will ever come without the OK button. I worked on Navis for 4 years for Pioneer, and it was a federal thing that the driver must it "OK" to confirm they read it. It is annoying for sure. The thing is, for some reason the TLs take forever (at least mine does) to even have the deisclaimer pop up, then the OK button. And it is true, the disclaimer is suppose to be built into the ECU. If anyone finds a fix for it, would love to hear it.

I'd love to have a way to bypass the "OK" as well.

One little thing I've noticed about my car, is that there is a little beep when that initial message comes up. I wish it would beep only after the "OK" appears so I can push the button then.

You'd think after a thousand times, I'd know that the navi system is imperfect.

It'd also be nice if the MID would display the MPG screen without my having to press "SELECT" every time.

No lies!!! If i just dont do anyhting to the navi, after about 2 minutes it displays the time right in the center of the navi screen, with numbers about an inch tall, and has a "space" background. If i touch the screen it will take the time and put it in the bottom right hand corner, and with another touch it moves to the center of the screen again. What i cant figure out is how to get it to go from teh A/C control or MAP/GUIDE screens back to just hte time as if i didnt touch anything!!

Maybe, maybe not.

We already know that the nav system's firmware is stored as a file on the DVD, and can be updated from the diagnostic menu (see the thread on this forum where somebody loaded the firmware for the Honda Accord into his TL and got a trip computer on the nav).

Whether the OK button can be eliminated or not depends exactly on where the instructions to display the button are located. If the code to display the button is located in the firmware that is loaded from the DVD, then it's entirely possible to bypass those instructions by modifying the firmware. It would be a simple (ha ha) matter of reverse-engineering the firmware with a disassembler, making the changes, burning a new CD or DVD, and loading the modified firmware into the nav unit.

No doubt the system loads some data (and perhaps even some code) from the DVD at startup. Since the system is unusable until fully booted anyway, that's a perfect place to display the disclaimer screen - just load the bitmap from the disc early in the boot process, throw it up on the screen, and then go back and load the rest of the data you need. Windows 2000 and XP machines do this every time they boot.

According to your profile, you have a 2002 TL. Our third generation TLs do not display a clock when the nav screen is turned off, probably because there is a separate LCD panel for the clock that is always on.
