Audio project has begun!

Well, the last remaining peices of my audio system arrived today so I decided to dive right in and knock one of the doors out this evening.

things that arrived today:

Roll of Raamat butyl sound deadener
"25 to life" Rockford Fosgate punch 75 (more on this later)
KnuKonceptz 4 guage wiring kit.
Tein Htech springs (obviously not related to sound, but I thought I would throw that in anyway!)

This adds to the Boston Pro 6.0 components that arrived a few days ago, navone converter, an Infinity Kappa Perfect DVQ 12 inch sub, and an Infinity 700 watt mono amp.

I took my time, and laid down 2 layers of Raamat, trimmed the factory location with tinsnips, and used bostons included spacers. I used the factory wiring in the doors. I Will likely do the passenger side door tomorrow, and start the wiring for the punch frontstage amp...

Oh, and about that punch 75? It is rated at 37.5 watts per channel, but its rockford birth sheet shows 211 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms!!! Its putting out over 5 times its rated power at 14 volts LOL...How old school Rockford fosgate is that!

I will try to snap some pics of the progress tomorrow evening for all to see!

wow.... sounds like your system will kick ass! It's funny, I was also going with Raamat for the sound deadening. GREAT PRODUCT. Did you get the ensolite as well?? You should love the Bostons too!! Especially w/ that kinda power going to them. Let us know how everything sounds. oh, and one more thing

Hopefully so...No, I did not do the ensolite, I kind of wish I would have though.
Everyone is saying you need to hit them with like 2 bills of power, and since they are 3 ohm, they will probably be seeing in the neighborhood of 250-260. Might end up being too much! I cant emphasize how stoked I am on this Punch 75. Makes me feel like I am 16 again LOL

Good thing I ordered another Kappa perfect 12 DVQ to help keep up

Oh, and I WILL have pics up today of the passenger door!

I am getting closer! The bostons are in and sound phenominal, the grills for the tweets match perfectly with the stock tweeter grill, there is no logo on the tweet either, so it is a very understated look. I had to take the tweets to -4 on the xover for them to sound perfect to me. I will post some pics of the progress so far. Its been 100 with 100% humidity over the past several days, so i have needed to go a bit at a time.

The amp is rediculous. I love it. It truly makes the Boston Acoustics pro 6.0 sing. About the RF Punch...well Sounddomain is having a sale. 199, with free shipping! thats over 50% off MSRP! I get the impression that they arent selling very well at MSRP because of their old school rating. I promised myself I would buy about 3 more just to hoard them...it is so old school simple, I absolutely frikkin love everything about it. Tell me where you can get a clean, powerful, well built american made amp for 199 bucks that puts out 220watts per channel into 4 ohms!

The Punch 45 would probably be perfect for a front stage, and its only 150 bucks right now at sounddomain! They are putting out 80 WPC on average into 4 ohms. (I just had to go excess by getting the Punch 75)

The SQ is quite good on the Kappa perfect, I have it in a 1.1 ft sealed enclosure...I would be to embarrased to post pics at this time of the trunk, the sub is just sitting there, with the amp mounted on the back of it...Output is good, but if you enjoy bass, you may want to go vented or work on placement a bit. I have my Kappa perfect rear firing, pushed up against the rear seat. I think that if you custom made something that was more towards the rear of the car, output from cabin gain would be stronger. I still dont know if I am going to use both, or vent one, or what. If I use both I will need a new amplifier, so that is affecting my decision.

What input did you use for your mono amp for the sub? I need an idea for my solo x and spl 3000 amp. Was thinking of the stock sub wires being used for high level input, but I would rather use rca cables. Any ideas?
