Attention Verizon users...V710

According to many threads over at www.phonescoop.com and www.howardforums.com, there appears to be a VERY strong possibility that the V710 will be lauched either on July 1st or July 6th.

Now this is all hearse of course, but some folks who have been fairly reliable in the infomation they have provided before have strongly indicated these two dates as strong possibilities.

I really hope it is true. I've a RRP due on or about July 15th and need a new phone to go with her...

Go read for yourself and draw your own conclusion.

And as late as today, I was told by a salesguy at a Verizon store that the V710 was delayed "indefinitely". He had no idea why.

My local VZW store told me today late August/early September. I don't know if they are credible at all and still believe the phone will come out when it comes out. I wish I had another provider with good service in my area. I'm sick of VZW taking FOREVER to get a BT phone out.

I used to have PrimeCo who turned into Verizon. Had them for a little over 2 years and within that time tried out AT&T TDMA which was a HUGE mistake. After all that fun, I switched to GSM to what is now T-Mobile (Voicestream at the time). Never turned back. I have been down to Houston, Austin, drove up to Oklahoma City, parts of Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado and service has been awesome. The idea of switching out phones when I want to is cool plus all the cool new features *cough cough* bluetooth. I always have a handy backup as well.

Back to the subject on hand after a slight rant... I talked to some Verizon reps, they told me Mid August as well. Then I spoke with some people at Motorola and they told me July 7th without hesitation... So its safe to Say... July/August its coming out. Be patient guys, the phone looks very cool and my experience with Verizon CDMA phones has been very good. They have a lot of toys that I wish would be available for GSM but I'll survive.

Hey, it's simple-the V710 needs to be out by December. That's when my 2 yr. contract is up with Verizon. If it's not out I dump Verizon and find a carrier that has Bluetooth. I want to use this option with the car as soon as I can.

I JUST got off the phone with David at the Verizon Wireless store in Cheektowaga, NY, and he informed me that the Bluetooth phone they were evaluating (I'm assuming to be the V710) had failed, and they were not going to support Bluetooth at this time. He suggested that if I require bluetooth that I go to another provider, and I'm ready to do so.

I guess at least our wait is over, and we can move onto another carrier. Their attitude about the whole thing has been way less than professional. The alleged customer service rep I spoke with before contacting the store had never even HEARD of bluetooth. Guess that's how prepared they were.

Now.....Who DOES have decent service AND Bluetooth?

Bye-bye VZ!!

I just jumped off the Verizon Ship last night! I went with AT&T Wireless. I live in a suburn of St. Paul, Minnesota and for the past few years AT&T here was horrible (my friend had/still has it). Anyway, at least in MN AT&T refvamped their network about 1.5 months ago. So far everywhere I checked the signal strength is as good or comparable to Verizon. i made sure to drive to the 3 local 'dead zones" where my buddy had trouble with calls dropping and poor signal. No problems yet. In terms of sound quality, I was very used to Verizon after being a customer for 3.5 years. Initially I found the AT&T sound to be very "hollow". However, after a few more calls I know find it to sound very similar to Verizon, perhaps a touch better. Talking to people they can not discern a difference in quality on their end. So far the only thing I do not like is the Verizon LG VX6000 phone earpiece was quite a bit louder at max setting than the V600 is. i personally like a loud earpiece and this is probally more of a Motorola thing than AT&T. Now, about bluetooth in the TL, I have only used it once. To be honest I thought it would be a bit slicker than it is, but it is still very nice. Just don't have super expectations because you will set yourself up for disappointment. Anyway, after a few more days with the phone I'll make my final decesion to stick with AT&T or keep Verizon. I'm keeping both accounts open for the time being. Oh, one more thing I wanted to state, I noticed the AT&T connects calls olmost instantaneously. verizon, it is about 3 seconds or so. Personally, not a big deal, but something I noticed.

They really told you they aren't going to support BLuetooth? Wow that sucks!! Guess I will be going with AT&T or T-Mobile.. I was very happy with VZ, but if they aren't going to come out with a Bluetooth phone I think I will switch.

I kind of felt this thing was never coming out. Verizon is amazing, everyone else has it but them. Bye bye Verizon.

I'm glad I didn't wait. I've been enjoying Bluetooth hands-free connectivity in my TL since last November.

I've been with Cingular in SoCal since I dumped VZW, and have been happy with the coverage and service. I've used the phone in AZ, IL, and WI, as well as CA, and the only place I've had coverage problems was on the UC Santa Cruz campus - AT&T works there, though, so if you wait long enough Cingular will have coverage there, too.

This is yet another rumor. If you browse the Verizon forums at Howard Forums ( http://verizon.howardforums.com ), you will find that about equal numbers of people are saying there is a major delay and the phone is coming on July 6th.

Only Verizon and Motorola insiders really know what's going on. If you don't want to wait, move to another provider. I don't find this functinoality important enough to dump the service provider with the best coverage (which is paramount in my profession).

Amen, neuronbob...this is exactly the reason why I've been holding out as well. I have a cell phone because I want to reliably make calls. Having a bluetooth phone so I can use it in my TL is secondary (although I really want to get it). As a for a having a stupid camera on my phone, well that I couldn't care less about, but you can't buy a phone today without one of these damn things on them.

With MA moving to ban the use of cell phones in cars without using some sort of handsfree device, the need for bluetooth becomes even greater for me. I don't want to remember to have to lug along my earpiece so I can make a phone call.

Just hurry up Verizon....

Update

Alright. My initial of AT&T Wireless was fairly good. However, a few days of use revealed the true nature of the beast. Verizon is still the better provider. Calls were not coming to the phone with AT&T when the phone was showing 3 of 5 signal strength. Then, to top it off, the phone did not indicate the missed calls for about an hour after left the location I was at and missed the calls. I also noted 1 deadzone with AT&T. I've never encountered one with Verizon.

Story short - The phone went back. Verizon reigns supreme.

PS - The AT&T 30 trial was the most painless process ever. No questions asked on return. Basically costs you nothing. If you want to try AT&T Wireless, go for it. They won't harass you at all and that is something I found to be very respectable. 10 brownie points to AT&T Wireless.
