You'll need to evoke the diagnostic screen first, get in your car, turn the nav on, and hold down the "GUIDE", "MENU", and "CANCEL" buttons for about 5 seconds. The factory calibration screen will come up.

Then click on XM module, and you'll see the option to erase those messages. Believe it or not the diagnostic messages are stored in XM module.. dumb.

P.S. word of advice, be careful
How do I delete the messages if I follow your instructions but when I click on the XM HIP button it doesn't do anything. I have an 06 that I just purchased and the previous owner had the navi conversion done and an isimple installed. The option above XM HIP that shows the F-CAN, HML, etc. Shows everything red... Is that bad and possibly the reason why I cant access the delete messages option?

Sorry for the delayed reply. If the prior owner "had the navi conversion done," it's possible it wasn't done correctly, but it may have been done okay. If everything is red, I would make sure the care is running or at least the ignition is on. Some of the components of the diagnostics stay red because they need to the ignition on or engine running. It's been a while since I have had a code to clear, so I I can't give you any further specifics related to the XM Hip. What I posted above worked for me in the past.

Yeah I tried to take the radio out but I could only pull it about an inch out and it wouldn't budge. I'm assuming who ever installed it as well as the isimple probably zip tied some cables together. I was able to find the isimple device he had and took it out but I wasn't able to disconnect the cable going from the back of the radio to the isimple. Everything is still red though but I did try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and it cleared the messages and I haven't had the "tighten fuel cap" message since. It may help that I replaced the gas cap with a brand new oem one lol

Does it mean the error codes were fixed if the check engine light doesnt turn on anymore but the codes are listed in the navigation still?

Has anyone had success with this?

Every start up mine goes directly into self diagnosis mode. I hold the Map, Menu and Cancel buttons at the same time and it goes away but comes back up when starting again.

Thanks
