Anyone thought of using JL CleanSweep?

Its supposed to make oem audio systems sound better, but it works up to 4 channels and as a added benefit it can add in aux input so we can plug in our mp3 players.

Thats a good idea. I'd have to say the only thing that disappointed me about my 04'TL is the audio. I was hoping for the BOSE systems that were used in the previous TLs but the current sound system seems to be lacking. Any ideas besides the JL clean sweep? Someone told me to put a new system in of Inifiti kappas. Anyone have any input?

To me the Bose sound system in the 03 TL was not all that hot. I had one. Some folks are caught up on name. When being familiar with audio brands like B&W, Merlin, Definitive Technology, Mark Levinson, ect. Names like Bose and Polk to name a few are pretty low end products. However Bose is capable of producing a system to run with the brands I named earlier. I believe in the audio business it's all fair game it's just thst some brands are known for a higher quality of sound than others.

For instance the system in the 04 TL sounds a lot better than the system in the 03 IMO. However Bose has much more recognition than Panasonic when it comes to audio. I still think the Panasonic system can be improved but it is a great start.

PS I'm just glad OEM are getting away from paper cone speakers. I can't stand them.

I'm looking into the possibility of using the cleansweep in my 04 TL. I have heard nothing but good things about it, although the 2 shortcommings so far are:

1. I want to retain the 5.1 system and it only has 4 independant chanels.

2. It has its own volume control and you will lose all factory volume controls (including the stearing wheel controls. )

Other than those 2 issues it should work great. PM me if you need more info.

Actually, Bose has virtually no bass.
They have a very strong peak around 80Hz. It is so strong that you get the impression that it is bass, until you hear a system which goes down low.

How can you possibly get bass out of $10 crappy paper cone woofers.
In there home systems they use a couple of 4" woofers and call it a subwoofer.

It certainly appears that Bose spends more money on advertising and marketing than on R&D, and it works, they have fooled the public.
But you can always buy better stuff than Bose for half the price.

Actually I interviewd at Boze in Framingham MA when I was a young pup out of engineering school. They do spend a bunch on R&D. But they also are amazing marketers. Much of their stuff relies on psycho-acoustics rather than true "flat" reference quality. Many people prefer what they think sounds good to what is "reference". ABSOLUTELY You can always buy something better at a better price if you do your homework. If you are not willing to do homework and have the cash then Boze products will often satisfy.

You can really impress a lot of people with that crappy woofer (that is actually mass matched to an acoustic wave-guide) but once they hear real displacement (12" NHT or Shiva) they get the real picture

That said I never have bought a Boze home audio product....I do homework!

I recently replaced all my speakers and my subwoofer. Originally I put in the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 6.5 Component speakers in the front and rear, but I wasn't completely satisfied. Infinity makes good speakers, but the are NOT made to be placed at high volume(they tend to distort). I recently replaced my four interior speakers with the Beyma 605 ND. These speakers are flawless, but they are pricey. I paid $250 per speaker at etronics.com so I ended up spending $1000 to replace my interior speakers. My highs and mids are great. I have the Kicker KX850.4 pushing my highs/mids and I have a Kicker 12" Solo-X for my bass with a Memphis Mojo pushing it. I still have my 4 independent channels with my stock radio.

Here's another little write-up about the cleansweep.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ght=cleansweep
I was told that our system (headunit) is actually pretty good. It's our speakers that suck. Replace the speakers and we should have great sound. Hopefully this is all we need to do.
