I just checked with the local Verizon office. They don't have (or know) when the update will be available.

My local Verizon dealer is advising that I check with them after February 15th. I will post my findings.

I've had Verizon since 1993 or so and have had NO problems at all. Other than some of their billing people are idiots on occasion, my coverage and area has been perfect, and I travel alot. (It has worked from NYC to Orlando, Lynchburg, Tenn to Maui, Hawaii and everywhere in between - even the back woods highways of WV!) My friend has had AT&T for years and his coverage is horrible. It's the running joke because he always dogs Verizon. His coverage has gotten a little better lately with the merger. The only thing he has going for him is "cooler" phones IMO.

Same goes with the 710. People think its terrible... Again, mine has been fine since day 1. Other than this HFL thing (which is a nuisance at worst) the actual functioning (which is what matters) has been flawless. Not 1 dropped call in 100s. And the build quality... ITS A PLASTIC PHONE, not a Glock. It works and that's what matters.

It all comes down to grass is always greener/people like to complain thing. If you look for things that are wrong, you WILL find them... (rattles included!)

So the battery meter (and phone # stuff) in the MID is THAT important to you? Does that also mean that you don't use XP since some updates take too long?

Talking

I'm with Dark on this one, I too travel alot and the coverage with Verizon has been great, lots of times my teammates will not have coverage in an area, they don't have Verizon, and I will so everyone ends up using my phone. Love the bluetooth in the TL, much safer and easier, I can do without some of the other fancies and I really don't care to take pics with my phone, I have a gret digital for that! I thought of changing carriers, but, none of them have the coverage and service that I get with Verizon, guess I will wait for the new firmware!

yes . thats correct.

and the other problem is that when you dial a number on the bluetooth .... the sound it makes when connecting kills me. (like a needle scratching a record). AHHH!!! T-Mobile does not make that sound ..........

LOL. Let's just say that explains... ALOT... It's even a wonder you even got a TL after all of the little quirks the car has... You had better switch carriers immediately, so your MID works right. Who cares if you don't have reception, at least you'll know that from the MID!

LMAO

I had t-mobile here in NJ and switched to verizon. A lot better reception on Verizon. Which to me was more important than having the battery and strength signal on the dash

I have had Verizon for 6 years now and would never switch. As long as I have the number in the Mid, that makes me happy. I know i have signal anywhere I go.

Yes - I had t-mobile which I got last spring when I bought my TL. I couldn't even get reception in my house. Would have to go out in the middle of the backyard to get a signal. Then I went on vacation in NC in the mountains. Out of the 4 of us with cell phones and different services - the only one that had a signal all the time when the other 3 didn't was my husband's - Verizon.

Then I lost the phone - dropped it in the woods. Tried calling the # from another phone to see if I could hear it ringing - but no good - cause it had no signal!

When I got home, bought the v710 and changed over to Verizon. (I also got the phone for free after mail in rebates.)

Yes, really!!! In my own opinion, the most important thing in a cell is the reception - not the bells&whistles a phone has. And right now until there are improvements in the whole cell phone system, Verizon seems to have the best reception.

By the way, this post was started a few weeks ago and I guess by now mrchoopa has found out the upgrade is available and got it installed.

The e815 still has issues:

1. Echo Problem (search and you'll find)
2. Phone turns off (and/or on) randomly when plugging in the charger
3. Alarm is disabled if a text message comes in before the former goes off (happens when the text message is not checked)
