Another Remote Start Question..Need Help?

I got the audiovox ax900(remote start/alarm) installed last night, and either this thing is a piece of junk, or there is something wrong with it. my car is parked in the driveway and it won't start when trying from inside the house. in fact, sometimes it won't start standing right next to it. this thing has a range of 1400ft., so i am very confused. tried changing the battery already in the transmitter, didn't work. anyone have any experience with these things, or have any suggestions as to what might be the problem? i'd rather know in advance, before i go back to the installer. i paid just under $600 bucks for the unit and the install combined.

BTW- WARNING, careful who you let work on your car.......another reason i'm going back to the installer is because they didn't even re-install a part of the dash correctly(gaps between pieces, missing screws)...i'm using a business trip to atlanta to calm down before i go back to this place. as you can tell i am very upset about this, and any help would be well appreciated!

The alarm brain could be bad. I had this happen when I was installing a new alarm on my Accord. The remote start would work from time to time...and when my car was armed with the remote start on...the alarm would go off. I just swaped out the brain and it fixed all my issues.

That sounds weird but it says 1400FT OPEN SPACE! with no RF interference but in your case it doesnt have to do with that since you were standing next to it. The rest of the alarm works?

Do you have your Acura's key with the integrated computer chip close enough to the chip on the engine block? You may already know, but this is part of Acura's theft-deterent system. A chip in the engine searches for the chip in your key, if it is not there, it will not start.

It probably can't find the key. This has happened to me on the same alarm. Around the ignition slot there is that round lit area. Inside there are coils which, when you insert the key, it will produce some sort of magnetic field that will let the car sense the key is present. Have the dealer insert another coil in that circular ring area. that should solve the problem. My car used to initiate start, but never cranked because of this.
