Amplifier question

Hey I am concerned with what amp I should get or what wattage is needed for this subwoofer

I was looking at the 500 watt amp by JL

Can't go wrong with a hifonics brutus. I got a 2100 watt brutus for my two kicker cvx's and when i tell you im slamming i mean im slamming. broke my windshield smh

That is a DVC 2 ohm sub so either 4 ohm or 1 ohm load. That amp does 500 watts at 2 ohm, isn't stable at 1, and is 300 at 4 ohm.

The amp is a little under what the sub is rated at, but will be fine as long as you run it at 4 ohm.

Do you already have the sub? If you're running just one of these, I highly recommend getting the 4 Ohm DVC version as you will spend less on a 400W @ 2Ohms amp than 400W @ 4 ohms. If you had the 4 Ohm version of the CVR, the JL amp that you selected would be perfect.

For that sub (great bang/buck, by the way. I had 2 15" of these once), you'll either want something that is capable of 400W @ 4 Ohms, or 400W @ 1 Ohm. The 15" version has 500/1000 W power handling, and I was running them at 2000W for like 3 years with no issue on a class AB amp. The amp overheated from time to time though lol.

That JL amp will work but you can go higher with the power as it only gives 300W @ 4 ohms. Here are a few other contenders:
