"You under estimate the power of the force"
Just installed my amp from Jesse Levi Kelley. Took about 5 minutes to install and the difference is night a day. The sound is much cleaner and is definitely the best value for an audio upgrade i've ever had. I would definitely recommend this amp to anyone. The video does not do justice.
If anyone is in the greater Toronto area and wants to hear it in person i'm willing to help Jesse out and let ppl hear it... but you have to come to me....

Just got my Jesse Amp and its awesome. Highly recommend it. You can max out your volume with out the sound getting all muddled and crunchy. Everything sounds crisp and clear. Matched with a sub your system will sound amazing !

^Could you explain what was done to your radio? Upgrade wise? Or fix?
My CD player has stopped working, but am currently searching for isimple or something for Bluetooth audio, for my no navi TL......just curious as well!

He upgraded all of the amp caps with super high end caps new FM transmitter there are 12 new large caps from 3 or 4 vendors i cannot remember the exact one's he used. You get a working CD changer with it of course. So if your looking to upgrade but keep the look simple that would be a good option

Yep! Upgraded caps inside the radio, but he told me my Type s radio and his would be the only two he would ever do. It was just too much work to do, but the base model radios im almost certain he still does.

yes he still does the Base radios. He will do the Type S radio's but they're a pain in the ass
#26
yeah he told me the Type S radio has like 66 caps to replaced, a pain indeed lol i want go upgrade my audio eventually, i have two Xtant amps i wanna throw in, also have a 3 way component setup from DLS too

Good deal. I have a boat load of stuff to install myself cannot wait

i just dont know who i trust for the install of everything, tired of having friends do it and shit going wrong. This car audio wise is unmolested so i want to make sure i go to someone reputable. If i go with the aftermarket amp, i lose the center speaker and can no longer incorporate the modded stock anymore correct?
#30
well what im thinking of doing, is using the xtant 6 channel amp to power the 3 way setup, woofer, midrange and tweeters, then have the oem amp power the rear deck speakers to fill in. Sundown sub would be powered by the xtant mono block i also have.

The HU outputs balanced signals (differential balanced) so if you find an amp like a JL that has balanced inputs the LOC will be unnecessary if you take the pre-amp signal before the factory amp. Oem controls will still function and you should have better sound this way...
One caveat to this is some people have had issues with noise going this way but I do not know why that is. I did it this way in my last TL and had crystal clear sound for both front speakers and the sub system. I had a non nav TL then. I am about to do an install on my newer TL which has nav. I am hoping the noise issue is not associated with having the navigation system.

Yes your are absolutley correct sir. I purchased two AudioControl lc-4.800 and then the DM 810 so I can have each speaker on its own individual channel. On top of that I will have crisp clean sound and no distortion

No you can use the LOC. He was just stating that with a few Highend amps you dont need them. In your case you have exactly what you need and you won't have to deal with the audio distortion

Hello All. So I just bought a 2005 TL and promptly decided to join this little community here. I have been searching and reading endlessly the past few days about upgrades I can make to the sound system in this car but everything seems to run around in a circle with contradictions. In one thread I'll read that the Head Unit is the problem with putting out good sound. In another I'll ready the stock HU is great and can win competitions but the amp needs to be replaced and on and on.
A little background. I really enjoy good audio. Not not necessarily huge pumping loud volumes but just an overall crisp neutral sound without anything getting too harsh. I came from an Elantra with an Alpine HU, 4 Alpine Type S Coaxial 6.5"s, and a Powered 8" MTX Sub that puts out 120 RMS and I really enjoyed it even if it wasn't top of the line anything. When looking at the specs on this TL everything seems like it should be more than capable of putting out good stock sound but everything seems to start distorting past 20 on the volume and getting worse the more you go up.
The stock amp seems to get plenty loud but something just seems off and not sure what the best solution is. This Jesse Kelley mod sounds like a decent solution but also reads a bit like snake oil. I'm not exactly sure how anything he is doing can actually improve the audio that much. I love my Alpine speakers but seeing as they are 4 Ohm it looks like I can't really use them in this car and hear any improvement? I see threads about replacing the speakers but most seem to say I won't get any improvement from stock unless I have a new amp. I really want to use the stock amp because spec wise it looks like it should produce plenty of power for me (again, my Alpine HU was putting out about the same 20 Watt RMS per channel and I had 0 issues).
I've also read threads of replacing the stock sub with this 8" JL that just drops in. Since the factory amp puts out 100W (I Think) to the sub, this sounds like an excellent upgrade that would work better than using the MTX Powered sub I have. I could sell that to fund the JL which would keep the trunk space clean.
Bottom line is, I'm just confused on what the best bang for you buck improvements are. This Jesse Kelley amp sounds reasonable because I can't figure out the primary source for the bad sound at higher volumes because the stock amp seems like it should be fine spec-wise.

Listen to the difference in person and judge for yourself. i got the amp and radio done by him and its plenty excellent, i will eventually upgrade the amp though with my xtant

Its a great alternative to aftermarket wiring, amps, and all that crap.
I went through it on my last car and it was a nightmare so i opted out for something easier.
