Amp install help

I've been searching for hours for a DIY sub/amp install and I cant find anything, maybe I'm not searching the right places or for the right key words, so im sorry if this is a repeat thread, but I'm asking anyway.

Ok, I recently purchased everything I need to install my system (amp, subs, box, wiring kit, and LOC). My prior knowledge of installing amp's tells me there are 4 wires in the wiring kit; positive power(red), ground(black), (this is the one im unsure about ) the thin blue wire (I think is remote on?) and then the L & R that I will be acquiring from the stock sub with the LOC
so back to the little blue wire; with previous installations that matched up with the red wire out of the after market head unit, after just attempting to pull the dash apart I realized that I may not be going about this the right way, so that’s where my search began.

So do I not need to plug that in anywhere, do I need to take the dash apart or is there a third, easier, option?

The blue wire is the remote turn on wire. You need switched 12v power (that is, a wire that does not have power when the ignition is off, only when on), so when you turn the ignition on, this wire makes the amp turn on. You can get an add a circuit and tap into fuse #32 in the driver side kick panel and run the wire to the amp from there. That's how I did mine and I actually have my radar detector and carPC remote wire coming off the same fuse and all is working well.

Take a look at this thread and you will see a pic of the add a circuit:

Thank you... so no one has a full DIY; I was hoping for pictures of the entire install. It would be nice to get a general consensus of the best path to run a 4g wire, ground off, etc?

the thin blue is remote but the remote on the car amp is 9V you'd need a relay to turn on so your car turns the amp on and off with the ignition switch. if not you can jus throw in a switch like I did Id rather have full control of it since systems pumping are illegal (in some states) at which point I can shut it down without problems. plus the high/low converter is needed unless u go with a new radio or one of the integration systems like the cleansweep or the 360. I used a high low from davidnavone.com this dudes got good stuff really clean music from his equipment.the power I ran through a small plug in the firewall i just popped out n ran the cable it literally comes out behind the radio u can see it if you take down the guard from under the drivers side gas pedal. but once its through your done the rest is cake.... good luck

The easiest place to get 12V switched for your remote turn on wire is the Nav DVD drive in the trunk. Just use an electrical meter to isolate the wire that has 12V DC when the key is on, then has 0V when the key is off. This is the wire you'll want to splice using vampire taps. That's how my amp is hooked up and it works great.

I wonder if the wiring harness for the Navigation DVD player is still present even though the unit itself is not. I know in some cases, car manufacturers will use the same wiring harnesses regardless of installed options to cut costs. If that were the case, you'd still be able to tie in to those wires.

Tripnbeats, does the schematic show if the wires are there in the non-navi?
