Unhappy Am I correct to assume voice commands no longer work once HFL is unplugged?

Hey guys,

I've disconnected my HFL, even though it was working, because I don't want to risk one day possibly having a dead battery. Well I was driving afterwards and tried using voice commands to work my climate control and the mic wasn't picking up my requests.

Am I correct to assume that the mic is controlled by the HFL? So by disconnecting the HFL, I've now got no voice commands for the nav/climate/radio control anymore?

I spend 1+ hour a day/6 days a week commuting and honestly use the commands daily because I don't like taking my hands off the wheel to touch radio/climate/nav screen.

Can anyone confirm this is correct? If so, this sucks

So guessing by your reply the HFL does control the mic overall and not just the bluetooth portion?

New modules are pretty expensive and I'm not sure I trust buying a used unit off eBay. Guess I'm stuck with no voice commands.

I would just reconnect yours that was working fine.................there are hundreds of thousands that have not failed. you will be ok, and only a dead battery if it happens to you. easily taken care of with a jump. Enjoy your hands free voice commands

unplugging a working one just in case it goes bad plug it in and deal with the battery if it happens... Just carry some jumper cables with you for the IF it happens.

thats like preparing for doomsday by depleting your funds by stocking up on non-perishable food, ammo, guns, plant seeds, etc.

it may or may not happen
