i believe ive heard them before in a buddies car.

ive always wanted JL tho. i used to have a 2 box setup with a bunch of amps that some dude GAVE me when i stopped and called 911 when he rolled his civic (fell asleep and flew 300 feet off a mountain side) and i gave him a ride home.

and i sold the whole setup for 100$ not knowing what it was worth. and this was before i had a car too so it really didnt matter.

I wish that I could just replace the sub on the car. I am trying not to use any trunk space. Golf clubs son!

That RF Amp is rated 500w at 1ohm, but the 10w6 is a DVC 4 ohm sub. That means it can be wired for either 8 ohms or 2 ohms. But at 2 ohms the amp is going to put out 400w. That same website has the JL A1400, rated 500W RMS @ 4 ohms on closeout for $219. The difference between 400 watts and 500 watts isn't enough to double your volume, but you will appreciate the additional headroom (at a savings!)

^i really didnt understand what u were trying to say lol.

i planned to run the RF amp at 2 ohm 400watt.

the specs on jl said that the 10w6v2 is a 2 ohm amp;hence why im going to run 2 ohms at 400watts with the rf amp.

i used my amazon card cause i had some cashback and free shipping,so thats why i did it. amazon didnt have any 400 or 300 watt mono jl amps or i would have bought it,they only had the 500/1 jl amp and it was 100$ more, plus more wattage than the speaker should use according to the jl site.

it says the 10w6v2 should have an optimum wattage of 400.

i think ill be happy regardless. i agree 300 for a speaker is alot, but ill never buy another system as long as i own this car more than likely.

ok so i screwed up...i thought i read the 10w6 is a 2 ohm but its actually a 4 ohm...now,i got the rf amp thinking i was going to use it at 400W@2ohm....is this possible without fucking up the speaker?

it was an error on my part cause i SWORE it said the speaker was a 2 ohm.

also,is the speaker i got the 10W6V2-D4? because it looks like there is a 10W6V2 and a 10W6V2-D4 which im not seeing the non-D4 on the JL site...?

The D4 indicates Dual Voice Coils at 4 Ohms each. That means there are 4 connectors, two positive and two negative. You wire the voice coils in series to get 8 ohms, in parallel to get 2 ohms. So, like i said in my post above, you just have to wire the sub right to get the right ohms.

I ended up wiring mine at 8ohms because I was told I might get better SQ that way. Now they're bridged so they're at 4ohms at the amp and I couldn't be happier. My super old Infinity amp is pushing them no problem.

so how do i get 2 ohms to the speaker? is there a diagram for that? i didnt realize it got this complicated.

like i said,i dont know if my speaker is a D4 or not but i think there is only 1 model of the 10W6V2... right?

Diagram B: Parallel Connection (2Ω):
Use two jumpers... one from “VC1–” to “VC2–” and
one from “VC1+ to “VC2+”.

haha ok man, sounds to me like this guy hit a nerve with u.

300$ for a speaker is a little rough, but its worth it in the long run and i wont have to keep buying speakers over the long term.

Exactly. Why keep buying shit speakers that blow and sound like ass, when you can buy a good quality setup once, and have it sound amazing all the time?

Good luck with your install. Take pics and keep us posted
