How many of the bulk packs of dynamat did yall use to cover your audio system?
Im looking to cover the front two doors, rear dear, under the seat, entire trunk, and behind the license plate, and cover the entire trunk lid.
Do you guys think 2 of the bulk pack will be enough?
Thanks
Nick

Sorry to ask but feel I need to.. why would you want to do all of that? I didn't add any and have no rattles at all. That is a lot of work but I guess it woul cut out some of the road noise.
If you have no rattles now , you're lucky. My car rattles with the stock sub. I also learned from my previous car that just because it doesn't rattle at first, doesn't mean it won't after time. eventually bass will rattle something loose.
Also some here have found a cheaper alternative. It was a hardware product I believe, and it was very similar to Dynamat but considerably cheaper. If only I could remember what it was called.

i think with the 13.5 w7 i will have to dynamat it. lol. one more question for you guys how many feet of wires you think I would need to wire up the whole car. my local shop doesn't have the kind I want. 50 feet would be enough? I have the k3p set from Focal, then wires would go to the Focal crossovers, to the 3sixty 2, then to the 450/4 jl amp.
Go Dynamat Crazy!!!
I bought the Dynamat 10455 Xtreme Bulk Pack - 9 Sheets of 18"x32". I am on my 5th sheet and I still haven't done the outermost parts of the rear quarter panels or the trunk lid. From the looks of it, I'll have enough to finish the trunk, rear deck (including underside), C-Pillars, area behind the back seat, back seat bottom and MAYBE the front doors.
If you order online it can cost you as low as 90 bucks + shipping. Here are some online stores: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...619787-9258439
If you have the money, dynamat everything! It makes a world of difference, not only in SPL (you can get up to a 12db gain if you do the whole car), but in road noise reduction, and your bass will thump like mad. Not to mention the dramatic increase in SQ. I plan on dynamatting everything I can until i run out.

you will have alot left over if you went with 2 bulk packs. if you're going to buy 2, then do every flat surface you can find until you run out. Rip out the carpet and put some on the flat part of the floor boards. It will help!
Good question. It took 108 square feet (three door kits 36 sq. feet each) of Dynamat to complete my install. I was able to cover the rear deck, inside and out. I covered the trunk lid inside and out. I applied Dynamat to the door speaker areas where the speakers are mounted, and the inner door panel. It took me a bit more because I covered the areas on the inside as well as the outside panels. I believe if you are going to use Dynamat, you should do both the inside and outside panels to cover all bases. There is also a great product called Ensolite sold by RaaMat that can be applied over the Dynamat to absorb backwaves. It is cheap and effective. I used Dynaxorb for my front speakers.
Back to your question. I did not cover the trunk floor or its sides. Nor did I cover the whole front doors inside and out, or the rear doors for that matter. I don't think two bulk packs will be enough (96 square feet). If you look at my install you will see what I was able to cover and it will give you an idea.

I just want to do it only one time man. I appreciate all the help guys. so 3 packs it is. and how much speaker wire and power wire did you buy? will 20 feet of power wire be enough? how about 50 feet of speaker wire? I would like to run new wires from all the speakers to the crossover and amp? any suggestions?
You will have left overs with 3 boxes, but I used it on everything I can, I wish I had more... Be careful with the seat belts and buckles. The Foil on the dynamat will cut you... And that tar will get everywhere. Shoes, shorts, knees, your hair(!).
Buy a box (200) razor blades... Throw them away frequently.
Be careful covering up bolt holes (rear deck has slots which suck), and dont put that center bolt for the rear seat back in (consider removing the center rear seat belt), dont over torque the front seats, and take your time.
This is a 3 day job...
Take the car apart, put big pieces down (1/2 & 1/4 sheets) (be careful with the seatbelts and buckles).
Work with curves and little pieces, trunk lid (remove the wight, and move the spring the open the lid more )
Put the car together... Dont force it.. Take your time.
I would suggest a service manual. If you do the headliner remember how it came out... I struggled for an hour getting it back in... Be sure there is alot of room around your car.
One other note, buy a kneeling pad (for gardening)... You cant sit on it, you cant crouch and get up that much (maybe you can), you dont want to kneel on it. WD-40 removes the tar, and do it in a cool / cold place.

well, i think you will need about 2 1/2 bulk packs. i went through alot just doing my car and we didnt get to the roof. i think it took me about 5 trunk kits and about 4 or 5 door kits. i did the whole car from firewall to trunk, doors, and deck. i got all that dynamat installed and i still rattle when i bump.
I used 1 bulk pack just on the trunk and under the rear seat. The 2nd pack ran out after doing the floor and the rear doors and I just ordered a 3rd pack. I think 3 bulk packs would do everything except the roof.
I used three Bulk (3) Packs of the Dynamat Xtreme... covered the entire trunk... two layers on each quarter panel... two layers on the entire trunk floor... two layers on the trunk lid and rear deck... One layer on the roof... One layer on the sheet metal behind the Visors and Dome Lights...
I also went through bottles of expanding foam in empty pockets in the steel structure in the trunk...
I tried using other "similar" products... but nothing compares to the ease of use and application of Dynamat... So I used the "other" stuff as backing to mold my fiberglass tube....
BTW... I still get rattling when I bump hard... but it's not high pitched... it's more like the car expanding / swelling up as a whole...
I need to remove the rear bumper and dynamat behind it...

Ok Ive been using this stuff and its the same exact junk and u get spools of it for less than the junk sheets of dynamat....b-quiet.com it takes a few extra days to get because of customs (comes from canada) but its great stuff and i used another material they offer for the doors called vcomp. when u shut the doors on my car it sounds like a 1980's S class benz did when it was new. I did the whole car in Bquiet extreme. one 50ft roll was more than enough. ENJOY!
The most rattles come from the rear deck. so i made sure to load that and the pillar area up especially where the spot welds are. I just hit the metal when the car is stripped to see where it makes noise and i apply the material front n back or just front if u cant get to the back.

if u order from the site i posted b4 u can cover a majority of the car in it....its 1 ft wide by 50 ft long of dampener. as long as u take everything out of the car and have it stripped and want to put a whole day of work into it it's well worth it.
