Alarm install and original keyfob, keep or loose it
Alarm install and original keyfob, keep or loose it
I want to have a better than factory alarm installed in my 07 TL Type S. Looking for motion sensor, window break, etc. I'm not so interested in the remote start.
My question is: the factory switch blade style key has a remote that most likely won't work with after market alarms (if I'm wrong on this then the rest of the question is null and void) so is there a key available that is not the switch blade type I can get that can be cut to work for my car?
Also any alarm system suggestions that anyone really likes on their TL would be appreciated.
Once again, I love this site and all the help everyone offers.

Hi. I have the Viper 5901 installed in my car (that model might be outdated now) My original key fob DOES still work with my car if all I want to do is arm or disarm my alarm. Most alarm systems are 2 way which allow the keyfob to receive info from the car as far as if the alarm is currently going off, which does are open at any given time, which particular sensors are triggered, etc etc. For that reason, I keep the aftermarket key fob that came with my viper system and I used the valet key from my TL.
