Aftermarket radio
Aftermarket radio
I have a 2005 Acura TL without navigation. Radio is messing up cutting out and the disc changer is only goes to certain discs. I was wondering if I installed an aftermarket radio would my center speaker and subwoofer still play? What about the steering wheel controls? How much would that cost for a shop to do that? I work a lot and really don't have the time to do the custom modifications. I've built and installed numerous so I am capable of doing it but just don't have the time to. The cd player I have is a single din Kenwood Excelon KDC-X996.

I believe you lose the HFL and voice controls, along with steering wheel controls. Center and subwoofer and the rears are likely gone as well. You would need aftermarket amplification and a line driver at a minimum to keep all of the speakers.
A new stock radio is just a hair over the price of the one you're looking at.

I would think you would lose center and sub channels . But you would still have front and rear . Also lose hfl unless it has bluetooth.
This would be the time to upgrade if you were thinking of doing that . Seeing as you already have the cd player , upgrade the speakers and add an amp. The hardest part will prob be mounting the cd player and covering up the open spaces . Or just replace with a new oem headunit
