After market system tenative plan...thoughts?
Well very shortly i will be bringing home an cert 04 TL w/ navi. A good friend of mine also has a TL that i used to test drive on multiple occasions and after trying out the sound system, thought it was kind of lacking in the volume department. Now i'm not for heart pumping bass, but i am probably going to redo the entire speaker system and this is my thoughts. Please tell me if this would work or if this is a bad idea.
Front speakers/Rear Deck: Infinity Kappa 62.7i (these are 2-way and 2 ohms--225 watts max) (do they fit? or should i get 5.25)
Leave stock tweeters
Center: Infinity Reference 3002cf (4 ohms) 75 watts max
Sub: 8 inch kicker to replace stock sub
I know most people say to get a box and 2 10's or a 12, but i can't lose the trunk space and i don't want to dynamat either. I figure the 8" kicker will work with some slight modifications.
Then i was going to run a 4 chan. amp for the speakers, and a mono channel amp for the sub, using the stock amp for the center speaker.
Do i even need to use a mono amp for the sub, or can i just send some of the power from the stock 4 channel amp to sub along with thet stock sub amp? I have no idea if that's possible at all, otherwise i'd go the other option. All in all i think this can be done for around 600-700 bucks buying all the speakers off of ebay. Thoughts and comments are appreciated thanks!

I just think the speakers leave some to be desired, and i don't listen to dvd-a---I use my mp3 player and rarely cd's. So the 5.1 dvd sound isn't something was most interested in for purchasing the car.
I replaced everything but he head unit, but that is beyond what you need.
On somewhat of a budget, here is what I would do:
Leave the center speaker alone.
Leave the rear speakers alone. In both cases, leave them powered off the existing amp.
I found plenty of room for 6.5" woofers in the doors. Replace them and the front tweeters with something good. Infinity is good for the price, but I would step up to some lower-line CDT or DLS two-ways or some used ADS speakers. You will probably run off the speaker-level outputs with an appropriate loc.
You need to check the clearance on the 8" kicker - if it fits, the is a great idea, imo. need another loc.
Make sure you have a REAL 25-75 watts per channel front and 150 for the sub. Much better to get fewer channels with quality amps.

I think if you have a budget of $700.00 you can get most of you need from ebay. CDT has an ebay store with reasonable prices. I had CDTs in my last ride and they're great for the money. Pick up some used amps and you're set. Replace the 8" with a 10" in trunk
Does the center channel not matter so much, and how come leave the rear deck speakers? King of pain, are you saying to stick a 10" in the place of the stock sub or a box 10". I'm def. going ebay for all the purchases, and will do the 6.5" doors since that'll work and give more of a full sound.

I took a look where the 8" sits on the rear deck. It does not look like a 10" will fit. I don't think you'll be able to hear the difference by replacing the stock 8" with another 8". A 10" in a box would be your next option.
Actually, if you can replace the stock sub with an 8" kicker designed for infinite baffle and a good amp, you will hear one hell of a difference. What I don't know is if even an 8" sub will fit on the deck.
If you want a good start on a system, pick up one of the two zapco studio 100's on ebay today. Up to $140, that is a deal. About as clean an amp as you will find for the fronts.
