Adobeman's DVD-A Creator doesn't work anymore

Ok so I have made a few DVD-A discs using mp3s with Adobeman's dvd-a creator in the past successfully. Now whenever I try to make one it converts all the files but when it gets to the part where it actually makes the .iso image it gets the error message ".iso image creation did not work". I have tried reinstalling it, and even tried with just 1 file, and no matter what it will not create the .iso image anymore. I even tried on 3 different computers and it gets the same error message on all of them.

As far as I can see it creates the files to be in the image, like it has the DVD file setup with the audio_ts and video_ts folders, but if I try to turn those files into an image and burn it, it doesn't work because my programs will only burn it as a video DVD which doesn't work in the TL even though the only files are in the audio_ts folders with nothing in the video_ts folder. Has anyone else had problems with this? It's only been in the past month or so that this has stopped working. My only thought is some part of Windows update changed something so it stopped working.

I just ran it with XPpro SP2 and it worked. I've agot all the other small updates. I haven't bit down on SP3 yet.

Try this...
Run a single or 2 file creation and then in the program's main directory (where DVDAGUI.exe is) there should be a file called debug.script. Change its name to debug.bat, open a command window and run it (by typing debug and then pressing enter). This will run all the commands the GUI did but you should be able to see if anything terminates with an error. You need to run it in a already open command window or else it will just disappear before you can see any errors.

Let me know the results or if you need any other help.

So it appears it doesn't have enough space or something, but I had tried it on 3 different computer, and each had at least 30gb free, and one had it set to create on 2 different disks each with over 30gb free. I have tried disabling Symantec Endpoint Protection which is protection/firewall program all the computers have because that is the only thing I could think of that would possibly keep it from creating new files, but still it would not work. Any thoughts as to what it might be?

BTW I am using XP Home SP2 on 2 of the computers and XP Pro SP2 on 1 of them which is the one with 2 hard drives and it used to work fine on them.

I just Googled "Couldn't reserve 3600084 bytes of space for cygwin's heap, Win32 error 487" and came up with a bunch of hits. Since I can't duplicate this on any of my PCs it's tough for me to do anything but speculate.

http://users.tkk.fi/~mlinjaah/cygwin_problem_make.html says "...but cygwin applications (make, for instance) will go crazy, if there are multiple cygwin dll-files in the Windows path-varible. " I've got plenty of cygwin1.dll files on my pc but none on the windows path. Put a few on the path and still couldn't duplicate the problem

http://www.voipsec.eu/?p=175#comment-400Seems to indicate a newer version of cygwin1.dll will fix.

Here is what I just did...got the latest CDRTools
went to http://www.student.tugraz.at/thomas.plank/ and downloaded:
  • cdrtools-2.01.01a53-win32-bin.zip
  • dlls.zip
  • DLL version 1.5.25
Scanned them and then unzipped them to "C:\Program Files\Adobeman's DVDA GUI\Code". Lots of files get replaced. Ran the GUI and all seems to still work. Didn't burn or anything. Give it a try and see if you get any luck. Keep me posted.

Ok I downloaded and replaced all those files. It seemed to get past the point where it got the error message before and started to create the .iso image, but then I got a new error message which is "DVDA structure creation did not work".

I ran the debug again, and here's what I got this time:

I checked and there is an .iso image in the image folder, but I'm afraid to try burning it because it says it hasn't created the DVD structure properly and I don't really feel like wasting anymore DVD-R discs. Is it possible the .iso image could work without the final step of creating the DVDA Structure?

no don't burn that. I see what's happening. The second pass is to embed the start sector value. Without that it will not play in the TL.

The call
Code:
"C:\Adobeman's DVDA GUI\code\isoinfo.exe" -i "C:\Adobeman
's DVDA GUI\IMAGES\untitled.iso" -l
Is returning a slightly different spacing of it's results and the GUI didn't parse it correctly. That caused...
Code:
C:\Adobeman's DVDA GUI>"C:\Adobeman's DVDA GUI\code\dvda-author.exe" -pp [ 27
8 -o "C:\Adobeman's DVDA GUI\DVD" -g "C:\Adobeman's DVDA GUI\temp\20-snoop_dog
g-imagine_(feat_dr_dre_and_dangelo).wav"
That square (in red) bracket shouldn't be there.

I copied my original isoinfo.exe back into code directory I updated yesterday and it seems to run OK again. All isoinfo.exe does is interrogate the structure to get the starting sector (location of AUDIO_PP.IFO)

Try this and hopefully you will get through the process. Copy the original isoinfo.exe back into "C:\Program Files\Adobeman's DVDA GUI\Code".
If you don't still have the old copy of isoinfo.exe then get it here http://home.comcast.net/~adobeman/DVDAGUI/isoinfo.zip

Sorry about not catching this yesterday. I had an old debug.bat and I just ran it with the new code. I never caught the difference in the new isoinfo.exe output. Hopefully you can run the old isoinfo.exe without problems.

Also, if you try and run the program with one really short song it won't work (bug) so load up a few files.

Keep me posted and thanks for your patience.

Hey that did the trick, thanks a lot for your help. On a related topic though, I have had a problem with a bunch of my songs where I try to add an mp3 and it will say "The file "(mp3 name).mp3" did not validate properly. The sample frequency for mp3 must be 44100Hz. This file is 22050Hz (or some other number). Is there any way to solve this without searching for a different version of the mp3 that does have the proper sample frequency, like by converting it somehow, or do I just have to skip those songs?

Cool. Now as long as the image burns and plays in the car we'll be all set. Please let me know how that goes. Unfortunately you are the guinea pig for the new versions of the files we put in the code directory.

The mp3 converter I used isn't all that great. Get a copy of CDEx (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/?q=download) and convert all your mp3s to wav first using it . It can convert just about anything. It's also a great CD ripper. Check out its "Convert --> Convert Compressed Audio Files to WAV files" functions.

Hey I tried out the DVD-A discs in my TL today and they seem to work just fine. I didn't get a chance to go through all the tracks but the first few and last few worked on a disc with 99 tracks. Thanks again for your help and this great program Adobeman.

here's a dumb and probably unrelated, but similar topic question (confused yet?). Can you convert DVD-Audio to a different format that can play on an ipod using Itunes? I did a search and since this topic came up about 10 times in my search, I decided to give it a shot... Anyone?

I have the newest barenaked ladies CD on DVD-A and would love to add it to my ipod if I can...
