Trying to put in an address in this car is a nightmare, I just resort to using my phone instead.

Is there an option so I can turn off the navi from suggesting addresses to me? I can't even enter my home address because it darks out the numbers. I don't know which version I have because I just got the car in Feb. Will the 2012 update DVD help this or remove the suggestion feature?

The Navi does not display available numbers or letters when the DVD does not have an address that matches.
This is a problem when searching for a place or address which is too new (i.e. just built) to be in the database, or when a street or town name changes after the database has been created.

What year is your TL?

Two ways to find your DVD version: Pop the disc out of the trunk-mounted Navi drive and check the label, or look at the version info using the "set-up" button next to the joystick under the Navi screen.

It's an 06, I tried to take out the disk and nothing was in there, does the car have to be on? I had the keys out. Also, the navi couldn't find my home address, lived there for 18 years now...

I'm going to assume it's not the newest version but will an update get rid of the auto suggestion feature? My phone will try to guess as I type the address but it won't blank out characters like the car does >.>

 

key has to be on 2 clicks to eject the disk or car started

Try this: when you're in the garage or in front of your home, activate the navi and say “Display current location” OR touch the center of the circled arrow showing your location-- does that show your address, or some other address?

Does your Navi show your home state in the upper right hand corner when you select "Find by Address?"
If not, you'll have to set your home state first before it can locate addresses in your vicinity.

Did you get a navigation manual with the car?

 

I did try it one day and it got an address I've never even heard of lol

I don't know if it shows the state or not...I'll check when I get home.

And yes, I did get a navi manual.
