Acura TL 2006 w/Nav and USA Spec BT45-HON3 review

Oh my b!! Glad you got it in. My 08 has an aux input so I didn't need to run an AUX, I did run the mic though since my HFL went bad (shocker). Where are you putting the aux cord? In my experience with those trim pieces, they're sturdier than you think as long as you're gentle-ish.
I've been in and out of my GD trunk so many times and unplugged and replugged everything. I'll be back in there probably tomorrow since I'm driving 8 hours Friday and am not going to want to deal with it, so I'm hoping I can get everything working with the cable but who knows. At this point, I just want to find someone in ATL that can help me install a double-din and be done with the thing haha

No shit! I live in Buckhead/work downtown. Have you taken apart everything before?? Maybe you're my guy LOL. Yeah for the price of that part you can buy one of these which replaces it AND adds bluetooth audio. No brainer. My first one was an 05' TL and I had best buy put the iSimple aux cord where you're thinking and I liked it.
I put a rockford-fosgate all-in-one amp/sub in my trunk and ran that power cord and the mic cable along the driver side kick panels and everything works as expected, thought about going through the middle to avoid any potential interference from the power cable in the mic line but haven't gotten any complaints!

Nice! Haven't taken anything apart yet - heading out of town tomorrow, so will get at it when I get back.
Ha - not sure I'm your guy. The last time I did a major sound system overhaul was back in the 80's on my 84 Prelude...back when the only thing holding in the crap factory radio was a bolt on the back of the head unit you could get to with your hand! had 2 kenwood amps in the trunk, 2 12 in Kickers behind the seat, EQ hidden in the glovebox (lived in NYC).....ah, my youth! :-). Cars today are so tight with trim and no exposed screws, not always sure where to start. Plus in most cases the factory units are high quality...so its usually about adding to vs. ripping out and replacing.

Yeah I'm with you. If not for the issues I've been having with the bluetooth thing and the desire to just have a more usable-modern entertainment center, I wouldn't even think about it. It doesn't help that I was in a rental for two weeks with carplay that I just really enjoyed

Yes basically once the module is installed all you have to do is turn on your bluetooth on your phone or whatever device you have and it syncs to your car to play music. The modules takes the place of your XM1 radio function (XM2 is still functional to use for satellite radio if you wish to use it) and so anytime you want to listen to music via bluetooth, just set the setting to XM1 and play your music on your phone etc. All other functions will be working as before.

I just recently purchased an 05 TL and the previous owner installed the BT45-ACU. My 05 has Nav and the bluetooth works but I cant seem to get xm to come through on xm2. It's like the bluetooth module has taken over both XM 1&2. How do I fix this?

It should only take over XM-1. It could be the dip switches on the back of the unit are set incorrectly. Should be 1-ON, 2-OFF, 3-ON, 4-OFF. If that's not it, I'd call tech support at 626-336-3836. Hope that helps.

Their unit is supposed to have noise cancellation but everyone i called has complained of hearing the surrounding noise... so not very happy with that.
Overall bluetooth music streaming works well

It actually is, there is an empty XM radio plug on the back of our head units. I installed mine into the back of the head unit. To listen to your music just double tap the cd/dvd button and it'll bring up a band called cd-c

So I got the USA-SPEC-BT45-ACU kit installed. Connects and sounds great. Only issue is I did not connect the mic that came with the kit because I thought the mic inside the vehicle would work? Is that true or false?
Would love to avoid running the wires for the mic from the back of the car to the front.

Worked like a charm
Did this recently do my 06 mdx with nav and it works great. Thanks for the write up. No bleed and still have the 2nd XM channel. I had to take out rear seats to get panel off. Otherwise went as expected.
