That amp is really nice but probably won't fit his budget. He'll be able to get a nice 1000 watt used amp for half that.

Give me a post brother...cuz honestly I do see a TON of used amps..in fantastic shape and used 1000w ones at that. I just don't know which ones are great deal, which ones have the specs to superbly drive the ICON and which brands are right. Thanks

If he can get 1000w amp for half that, why not just spend the extra half and get it all in one case?

What do you mean?? He needs an amp for a single sub, and although that 200.4 is downright sexy, its not really enough at a 4ohm configuration (should be plenty at 2ohms) but it's x2. Nice to have if you need it but kinda pointless for him. Why not just run a 1000x1 @ 4ohm amp and call it a day? Not tryin to knock on ya...just don't understand lol. Maybe I'm missing something

What about a PDX1.1000? 1000 (more like 1100-1200) at 4ohms (or 2ohms)

I think Monkey (and many others are right) I think for what I'm looking for and do ONE job correctly and rock the socks off anyone who takes a ride with me; I will most likely wait "a few weeks" for the ICON 12 to hit your shelves. It's a solid product and the reviews i've read in past make me hungry to wait for that!

Aaron you still like the Intimidator 5.1 matched with your new upcoming Icon 12?
The Inciminator 5.1 is good power wise for the original Icon, heck I ran a single Icon 12 on only 240 watts for a long time, then had a single Xcon 12 on the same power. The expressions of the few people who got to demo it did not believe either install was a sealed 12 with 240 watts. Hehe, love that.

As for the new Icon, I never like to speak on anything until I know for certain, and with the finalized prototype not totally finished, I am not going to speak out of place. (not into BS'ing people just to make a sale) With that said, part of the upgrade, the Icon will be losing a little efficiency for a big bump up in motor strength and cooling capability. So it should be just fine on that power, but if you want to throw more power at it, go for it. It is almost always better to have too much power and back the gains down, then to not have enough power and crank the gains (headroom). If by then you are still interested in the ZED, I could put a combo of the Minotaur and the Icon up on the SSA store.

The IA FL is a very nice SQ driver. It is a little more then the Icon, but is still an excellent SQ option. Few underhung drivers are left on the market, at least in the sub woofer category.

To be honest, i think it was cus of the size of the thing.

Look at the dreadnought

then look at the 200.4

At similar price points, the zed was a no brainer due to it's size and other features. Most can't fit surfboard amps in their car.

800 @ 2 ohms

That's perfect for an icon.
