6000k or 8500k Fogs?
Please don't get 8K bulbs. Why would you want purple lights?
The only acceptable temps to get are 3K, 5K or 6K and thing else would be uncivilized :p
Seriously, if those are your only two choices I would go with the 6K.

I'd do yellow 3000k for fogs. especially if you live in an area that sees fog or other types of weather that reduces visibility.
Depends what you are going for, cosmetics or functionality. Cosmetics most I would go is 6k because you can still use them and they look nice, 8k is not really good for actually seeing anything. For functionality I say 3k, where I live fog can sometimes be bad and I love the benefit the 3k fog gives me for seeing the road since my headlights are 6k and at times even with the HIDs in the headlights I need the 3k output in the fogs to see enough to feel comfortable driving

i have 8K lower fogs....and they are bright.....but they are majorly there for aesthetics only !!!
BTW 8000K aren't Purple, no where close to that....they are more like white with a heavy hint of blue....besides all HID's are prone to discoloration, so 8000K becomes more like 6000-7000K....
onto some pix:
6000K LED switchbacks, 6000K HID headlights, 6000K LED white upper fogs, 8000K HID lower accord fogs
