6.5 doesnt fit.. in the front.

2004 acura tl base

maybe im stupid but i cant fit my 6.5" speakers in the front.

i was installing and i noticed after i removed everythign that my magnet of my speaker doesnt even go through the hole. so now im curious are they 5.25" in the front an 6.5 in the rear ?

or are even smaller?

i was trying to put in my dls ultimate ur65 in the front.. and just failed.. now im sitting here mad lol

You're putting in a 6.5" cone.....not magnet. Magnets will differ in width and depth but the cone will not vary. That being said, our factory holes are pretty small so some cutting will be need for most speakers. I find a dremel tool and a small circular metal blade goes right through it.

Don't forget to cut inside the actual door panel (the back side) either so it doesn't poke a hole in the surround.

Are you using baffles or trying to mount them straight to the door panels?

Easy way to do it is line up your spacer ring where you want the speaker. Take A sharpie and trace inside the spacer ring. User a jigsaw with a metal blade to cut from the center to the line every couple inches. You have two options here. You can use a hammer to bend back the tabs you created, or you can now cut around the circle. Touch up the exposed metal with some paint when done. You might be able to get away with a smaller hole, but this will fit for sure.

^ thats how I did it for mine

Also, yeah make sure you use 1/2" or 3/4" mdf baffles. Not sure how deep your speakers are but that should be plenty.

I would just cut the holes. Having those tabs hanging out there might cause resonance issues.
