3.5 mm jack to dock connector for '08 TL

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and I want the cheapest option to play music from my iPhone in my 08 Acura TL.

Of course, I followed the rules and searched =). Turns out I can do a 3.5 mm to 3.5mm (Aux cable) but I've read that for iPhones, I can use 3.5mm jack to dock connector.

I was wondering if anyone has used the 3.5mm jack to dock connector and if it works for iphone 4s specifically?

Amazon Amazon

According to reviews, some say it works and some say it doesn't work. O_o, I don't know what to believe.

Thanks in advance!

i believe 07 and 08 TLs comes with aux jack....well, if u wanna change songs using steering wheel control while charging ur phone at the same time then you will need to install a ipod adapter directly into the back of ur stereo, which i believe will replace ur current XM radio... if not just get a 3.5mm cable and use the current aux jack

personally, i don't like using the jack to dock connector because i also like to charge my iPod/iPhone when I need to. I just use my flat aux cable.

I've read that the 3.5mm to dock has better sound quality then 3.5mm to 3.5mm? Is this true or just a myth?

Is 3.5 to dock the same through out or there is diff models? I assume functionality wise is all the same? Charging or not is not a concern, I was just worried if it can play music off of a iPhone 4s.

Should be the same, I have an Iphone 4 and I dont believe they changed the docking port so it should work great. And on the sound quality I think it improved a little bit.

When I had my iPhone, I got the DICE Electronics Silverline Duo. They're about 180 from a retailer but I found one for like 70 on Amazon. Works great, it even does text display. PITAAAAA to install though, if you have big hands like me. There is absolutely no room behind the stereo to plug that damn thing in.

Would the music quality be better with a dock connector? I've noticed the quality from my AUX cable has sucked lately, but I think I might just need a new one.

Something like this might work for you then:

Amazon Amazon

Dock connector to 3.5mm audio AND USB for charging.

Then you'd just need a 12V DC to USB adapter:

Amazon Amazon

Conveniently you can plug it in right next to the aux input port.

Agreed.
I ended up pulling the whole stereo/nav unit out slightly just to get to the plug in the back. Took more time but think it may have saved time in the end trying to fiddle with it.

Whats the difference between the one I linked and the cosmos?
They are both 3.5 to dock, but cosmos supports iphone in the details. But one is $6 and one is $11. Cosmos supports iphone and is cheaper? Could the price reflect on the quality?
