Does anyone think that it is worth spending $200 on a new DVD Navi disc from acura for updates ? or should I just buy a TomTom or Garmin that gives me free updates ?

I have a 2005 Acura TL, will it make my LCD screen look more updated lol ?? Idk or will it just update the maps.

 

$ 200 for map updates are kind of dumb, i think. Come on, thats a little too much.

 

Worth it YES, but I would not pay the 185 from acura unless I had it like that. Personally i would just stalk the Black Market and Ebay for a disc. You just missed a 2010 disc that sold in the Black Market for 150.00.

Either way think of it like this...if you have a semi new (2 years old) you can sell that for 75.00-100.00 somewhere but I really think it would look stupid if you have a TL with NAVI and a TomTom in your Window

if you live in NY, it really helps alot if you use your navi alot. I had the 3.6 version in my car, couldnt find anything especially if i was close to it, it would send me to california instead. if you have an 07 disc or higher is not worth the upgrade. but if you have a disc 3.6 or lower and if you live in NYC, its worth the upgrade in my openion

Just noticed this thread too. I just went to ebay and picked up the prior version for much less! They have the original for sale and not a copy. I don't want a copy. I do it every year so I'm (close to) up to date for a lot less than the new update. Things change like restaurants and sometimes roads. Not sure over 200 is worth it but at about half price it is justifiable for me.

It's not just map updates, it's a major software upgrade as well this time (at least on the Orange disc for '04/5/6) which finally fixes practically all the things about the Nav system that everyone's been complaining about here for years. That's what makes it worth the $200 cost this time around.
