2008 tl HFL question

The HFL doesn't work in my 2004 tl. It doesn't seem to recognize any voice commands. There is a 2008 being parted out in my area and the owner says the HFL on his works.
Does anyone know if it's the same module as on the 2004?

No. The HFL module for the 04 TL is different than for the 07-08 TL. The 04 TL's had their own part number for the overhead console that housed the actual module. 05 - 06 TL's had a different part number (for the same interior color), as did the 07 - 08 TL's. Not sure on what the differences were on the actual HFL modules, but if you're looking to replace yours I would look for an 04 module. Unless someone can say the 04 - 06's were the same.

Ok thanks. I think I might just forget it and leave it as is. I probably wouldn't use it anyway.
Now I need to decide if I should just not put it back in. It passed the diagnostic by pressing the talk and hang up button, I never got the booting up message so I'm not sure if I have the issue with battery drain.
I've only had the car less than three weeks and replaced the battery last week. Not sure when the previous owner had replaced it.

If you have a multimeter you can check the voltage level daily to see if it's draining. That's what I did when I replaced my battery a couple of months ago.

I do have a voltmeter. Do you mean across the - and + of the battery?

I decided to just leave it out. Since it doesn't work, no point in leaving it in there. It's "deaf" doesn't hear me. Lol

Just unplug it so it doesn't drain your battery

Sweet.

Your last post read "I'm going to leave it" I thought that meant in.

You can't edit posts after 15 minutes. Only mods can.
