2007 TL Navi in 2006 TL??
Hey guys!
I have a 2006 Acura TL with nav and I was looking into updating the navigation system. I figured out that my year can only get a 2014 updated disc. I also noticed that 2007 TL's can get the 2018 updated disc. Is it possible to swap my 2006 Navi system with an OEM 2007 Navi system?
Thanks guys!

navi disks dont do shit other than waste your hard earned $100.
you're wanting to spend over $1400(retrofit navi) to install a $100 updated disc?
screw ALL of that and just use google maps for free.

yes you can upgrade the navi system to the 07/08 they are plug and play and you will be able to get the new disc updates.
however for the 05 which is what I have the bottom portion of the navi screen has some minor calibration issues idk if it will be the same for the 06

I was honestly just thinking about picking one up from a junk yard near me. And I do not have unlimited data on my cell phone so I'd rather not use up all the data on my phone when my car has a built in navigation system....

Couple other things to consider, all better and possibly cheaper than swapping newer navi just for updated discs:
1. Buy more data. It's 2018. I have 5GB a month and it's more than enough, even when I'm tethering, using navigation, and watching stupid videos and images.
2. Use phone, but: Google maps allows to download some area (while on WiFi) and use maps offline (or with reduced amount of data)
3. Use phone, but get offline navigation like Sygic ($25? for the full version, can download whole world, including EU) (again, download on WiFi)
Both Gmapps and Sygic will be update more often (and free), you can take them with yourself to other car, have more addresses and POIs. Many people use google maps even in new cars. They are just better.
If you are not scared of doing things yourself:
4. Use stock navi with Navtool HDMI. Allows to keep stock screen, and uses phone for navi and other functions. If done right, I would say that this might even increase car's value (if somebody cares about stuff like that) You would need to do more research. 5. Swap Nexus 7 - probably hardest, but you are getting rid of that outdated screen. Most likely reduces car's value, and probably should be removed when selling the car, unless you find somebody who knows what it is about. I really like my Nexus, even when 90% of the time it's just for looks and music.

Doesnt the 07 have a backup camera and live traffic? I have an 06 as well and I'm interested in this swap since I see a junk yard with one for cheap. If it is plug and play are there any other issues like with the hfl? I could have sworn there was a detailed post on the swap anyone have the link?
