2006 TL Navigation Removal

Good afternoon and hello to all.

I have a 2006 TL base with nav.
I'm trying to find out if the nav unit can be deleted out of my car?
What I mean is, the CD player in stereo doesn't work anymore and I don't want to be a huge price to update the nav.

What my plan is to remove the nav and stereo, put in a molded plastic "pocket" for my phone to sit in and a new double din stereo under.
Can I delete the nav system without problems to the car computer or other systems?
I really do love my car, but the stereo system isn't what I want, please help.

Thank you for your time, Nate

Everything gets run through the DVD drive in your trunk. If the drive is removed, you won't see anything on the screen (which you plan on removing). However, some of the display up top, above the screen (in that little window) won't work either. The buttons on the radio will still work, but you just can't see what you're selecting, one way or another. I guess if you don't want the stereo at all, I believe you can remove it in its entirety. HVAC should still work without issue.
