2005 TL Navigation:
2005 TL Navigation:
I am looking at purchasing a 2005 TL, but the car does not come with a navigation. I know in my 2004 Jeep the navigation unit was self contained and was just a plug-and-play of the original stereo. Is this the same with the new Acura models with the DVD Navigation unit or is it a re-wire nightmare?
Hello and welcome!
unless you are really good with wiring I suggest you look for another one that has NAVI in it already.
Navi retrofit has been done before but it's almost always cheaper just to find a TL with NAVI instead of acquiring parts and spend days installing it.

2005 TL Navigation
Just what I thought. I think the Chrylser/Jeep has it going by allowing for the plug and play type of upgrade. I did a re-wire of my 2002 Nissan Maxima when I added the Navi, and it was a summer long project to get it done. I don't think I want to go through something like that again.
It sounds like you've not seen the difference between the navi and non-navi TL. It's pretty clear it's not going to be plug-and-play once you see them both. But, I think a few of the folks here that did convert their non-navi to navi saved some money, but went through a lot of work.
