2004 TL custom System COmpleted

Hello all.. Im not a regular on this board but i thought i'd share some work i did on this TL
This vehicle head unit was replaces with a Double DIn touch Screen Kenwood
and i had to make a kit for it.. to make it all fit nice...

also the car consist of 8 monitors but i didnt have chance to take pics of it .. I wil Today when i go into work before customer takes the car away.

But i took some shots of the trunk... which was done up by Tuan/Vince

heres a pic of it with the flash so that you can see the paint match inthe fiberglass box and sides

I have not seen anyone done any type of install on a 2004 Tl yet that is why iam posting this.. to show you what can be done .. I've search and search to see other setups been came up with non.

For those who is going to do the Aftermarket stereo and make the steering wheel control work with the unit.. Make sure you buy the interface..
in the instructions.. it tells you to use the white wire which is true.. also.. on the stereo harness. it says use pin#3 which is correct as well I believe its green/red but thats all it says.. For acura 2004 Tl you have to use pin #11 as well.. which is a Brown wire.. YOu need to ground that to make the unit Work correctly.

email me if you ahve any questions on this install...
or feel free to call me at our Shop

I will reply another post today for some more pics. of the monitors done on the car.

Tuan...

The trunk is insane. I assume those are 12L7s? That thing must pound. Why not stay with the Kicker amps?

Hella tight install!!!

I've always dreamed of another monitor below my Navi as well.

Nice touch with the Acura symbol in the trunk.

ya that is a really nice and clean install. What did you do about the stock speakers? I assume they are replaced so they can keep up with those subs. I love the trunk

Thanks for all the replys guys... First off the inside speakers were all replaced with Focal Utopia all around.. So it sounds really clean... The box is ported right through the rear arm rest .. SO the bass is all inside the car. which is Very powerful... The reason why we chose not to go with Kicker Amps is because we know that the Rockford Fosgate amp will Push it even harder. It is under powered right now.. The amp is only 1000.1

As i said this morning. i would have more pics for you guys. and so here it is... the side mirrors arent quit finish.. the glue didnt dry then we speared it at the car wash. lol... the car was taken to the detailer this morning before i got to work.. So when it came back i toook some snaps...

if you look really close to these mirrors u can see the LCD screen in the back of it.. Its really bright at night when it is lit up. when the monitors are off.. you cant even tell theres a monitor back there. as for the power mirrors.. we disconnected it So it does not move anymore..

Now here i took a better pic of the front dash .. after the car was outside the install bay..
this customer wanted more Monitors in the trunk lid and a pair of focals .. but i convince him not to do it.. because i didnt want to sand anymore Bondo or do fiberglass on teh vehicle after doing the box. and panels in the trunk.

That trunk is absolutely killer looking !!!
HOWEVER, unless you replace the OEM system with another 5.1 surround sound, I can't sound as good. No matter how loud it gets in there.

Nice install. I noticed that the OEM Nav buttons are gone. Did you remove the OEM Nav system?

The OEM Nav buttons will not work if the OEM stereo is not in connected.

Good eye. I only noticed the lack of OEM radio.
Looks funny having the notches in the trim panel on either side now. I love the trunk but don't care for the dash.

wild.... screens in the mirrors though?
please post pics when you crash so we can also see what sort of crumble zones the '04 has.
note: please don't hurt anyone when you crash... try to hit something stationary and not too fast, we don't want you to get hurt either.

p.s. can one sue the installer for being so stupid as to honor such an inappropriate request?

I'm not sure how this person is going to drive that car...but if it was mine, it probably wouldnt be my daily driver...so having the TV in the mirrors shouldnt matter.

Amazing spend all that money on the car but dont spend the extra 1500.00-2000.00 for the navi and an extra monitor. Not to mention the dead radio in the center of the dash looks like crap. other than that you guys did a great job but, hey its not my car.

I am really feeling that Kenwood Excelon DDX7015, and you can always add on the Navi to the unit in the future, I agree that you have a blank screen were it displayed the old radio stations, but who cares, this thing look sick! and a touch screen! I am a Apline head-unit fan so I dont know if I can make the switch, but Alpine doesnt have a touch screen but it does have a retractable screen which is kinda of cool. How do you compare this to the Alpine or are you not that familiar with it?

As far as XM, it has a wire to hook up or do you have to buy more accessories for that?

Also, the Kenwood Excelon DDX7015 is set up so that you can only play DVDs in park, it has a parking brake detector. Did you try to get by that? such as grounding the parking brake wire. Just curious if you did that. Also how is the quality when watchign DVD's?

How is the overall quality compared to the stock system quality that the head unit produces (regardless of what speakers used)

I wonder if that also effects video from playing on other screens within the car.

I saw this car before it was completed with its guts all over the interior and the fiberglass trunk still in pieces.

If I remember correctly the owner of the car didn't buy it to drive around (apparently he's got a bunch of cars), but as a show car.

He put a different monitor where the OEM navi would be. $2000? I think this guy dumped well over $10k into the car including an aftermarket navi.
I do agree that the dial cutouts in the aluminum trim look ugly.

edit: there is no monitor in the navi spot. Why didn't he just pay the extra $2k for the navi?

The Monitors are just overkill. Who the hell is really going to sit in their car and watch DVD movies? Get real. This person deserves to get slapped for such ignorant installations. LCD in Visor...sad. All these monitors are rediculous and useless, but it did come out nice in the car.

The trunk on the other hand is something i really appreciate. Looks amazing, and will probably sound amazing. In reply to a comment made by someone who mentioned it not having 5.1 surround... It will sound hundreds of times better. I bearly ever hear the capability of surround sound in my car unless its on a DVD-A disc. Great job on the installation, i really love it. How much did it cost for that sound system setup?
