Exclamation 2004 TL Audio problem--non nav TL

My radio has suddenly lost most of its volume on all settings AM and FM .
Also I do not get any sound at all from the CD unit. I can see the unit actually playing the disc with the time remaining showing etc. It also changes discs normally. After reading posts I feel the amplifier behind the passenger kick panel is probably causing my problem. The CD problem is not mentioned in the posts and is the part that is worrying me.
What do you think, or better yet, know about this? Looking for all suggestions before buying a used OEM amplifier.

If there are major volume differences between inputs, it isn't the amp, it is the HU itself. If all inputs give the same lack of sound, most likely the amp.

The easiest swap/test is to replace and/or repair the amp. They are known to fail with age and there are guides on how to replace the most likely failed component which are the capacitors.
