2004 Canadian TL - iPod Integration w/Navi
For 2004 Canadian TL owners with Navi, but no XM radio button, the USA PA15-HON2 works beautifully. All functionality of the Navigation is retained. The connection is a direct link connection for excellent sound quality.
How it works:
The unit is connected to the back of the radio in the CD changer connection. (yes there is a CD Changer Connection). From the USA Spec unit, there is a direct link cable that connects to the iPod.
Once installed the iPod is controllable from the steering wheel. You get minimum information. The playlist number and the song number but no other details. To move from playlist to playlist you press the CD+ or CD- buttons on the radio. To move from track to track you can use the steering wheel button or the + - radio buttons. Sound is excellent.
I purchased this online from Cruchfield and had it installed at Best Buy. I watched the installation and it is not easy. You have to remove a portion of the dash and the pretty much the whole centre console. For $75 a professional install is worth it. The benefit is that the cables are long enough to run through the centre console, up into the arm rest and actually there is a groove so the cable can run right up into the top tray under the arm rest. So you don't have to install it in the glove box.
