Question 08 TL Navi & 08 TL-S Audio Systems

Hey All,

I'm about to purchase either an 08 TL Navi or 08 TL-S. I;m looking for some advice on the audio systems of both. Pro's and Con's. I'm also looking for feedback on both cars, Pros & Con in general. Just sold my 00 TL and can't wait to replace it.

Thanks a bunch.

DMM

Audio systems are the same, I believe...

For power and status, go with the TL-S.

Audio systems are the exact same thing on both cars.

They have a Pro-Logic II 6 DVD-A changer in the car. It has 5.1 surround sound, with ability to adjust speaker levels on all the speakers, or even kill the PL-II. Very balanced sound system, but you could do better to upgrade the speakers.

Any thoughts on the TL-S vs TL Navi on the seats? TL-S appear to be more comfortable? Any other thoughts on engine reliablility, interior etc?

Thanks again,

DMM

The 09 is ugly but it has - ALL WHEEL DRIVE, Too bad we didn't start that in 05, Probably would have been one of the best cars built by Acura to Date. Still 08 is a great car

One thing I like about the audio system is the ability to play DVD-A disc. Sounds awesome with that system. The TL-S has all the bells and whistles and more power.

DMM, if you can afford the Type S-GET IT !! You'll never regret it. And if you don't get it, you'll kick yourself for not getting one. The seats in the Type S are more supportive that the base TL's and will wrap around you better too. The sound system in these cars is awesome (Type S and Base TL). You'll love the gadgets in the Acura-Hands Free Link, Built-In Garage Door opener, Sound System/DTS Surround Sound-which is awesome! I've posted in threads that have URL's where you can buy them. Enjoy your car-whichever one you buy.

the TL-S has two differences with the audio system. Firstly, it has the Active Noise Cancelation System. This system plays a tone to counteract cabin noise. This tone cannot be heard by humans, and acura stated in a press release that it can quiet the cabin upto 10DB! This makes no real difference with the factory sound system, however if you decide to upgrade the system, you will need to unplug the mic's for the ANC system so you won't get a thumping noise from aftermarket speakers.

Second is the lighting, the TL-S has red radio lights over the Base TL's greenish-white ones.

As far as TL vs TL-S, it depends on how you drive and where you drive, however I'd go with the TL-S if I had a choice.

Thanks all,

I wound up getting the TL Navi Black/Black, as the dealer only had an 07 w/o any paperwork or history. This was one of the last new 08's left on the east coast and has a totally different feel than the 00 I let go.

Thanks for your help.
