07 Type-S installed navtool w/ dvd player...pics inside.

Well I am in the middle of my install and am stuck. I have a DVD player and can get audio but I cannot get video to work. The wiring is the exact same as Dom's unit looking the the DIY thread. Next my toggle switch broke and I bought one from auto zone that that illuminates but now I have no idea how to wire it. I popped one fuse already.

Below is a pic of similar switch I found on google images. The prongs on mine are not labeled 1,2, and 3. Mine are 1b(prong is copper in color), 1 (middle prong) and 1a. Thank you all in advance for your help!~

Update:: I have a mulitmeter and tested the prongs. The copper prong is ground (1b) and the other prong on the far end (1a) is power. When I turn the switch "on" the switch lights up and the middle prong on the switch (1) gets 12 volts. I put the red wire of the navtool switch on the middle prong (1) and the black wire on (1b) the copper prong as well as an addition ground wire. When I turn it on it popped another 10amp fuse. What should I do?

Well its DONE!!! Special thanks to "Jiggy2dmax" and "msala524" with all my little quirks and issues. Thanks fellas!~ Special, special thanks to "msala524" for even helping me with my subwoofer install and TPMS error message!!! Instead of opening up a new thread I thought I would just post some pics on this one. If anyone is thinking about installing a Navtool or Doms nav unit themselves I would highly recommend it but to first check out "bzyrice" DIY thread installing Dom's nav unit. Extremely easy, lol now that I think back on it...lol.

I installed an 1/2 DIN Eonon DVD player ($78 shipped on Ebay) in the lower compartment in the center console. I would NOT recommend this DVD player because of the depth. I had to take apart the DVD player reorganize the circuit board inside just to have enough room for it to work and that still wasnt enough room.

Mods: Dont know if this thread should be moved but can you change the title to....."07 Type-S installed navtool w/ dvd player...pics inside"

Here is a pic of the door closed and my red switch next to the passenger side heated seats button.

Before....

After....

Lower compartment opened....

A pic at night....

First I will say I DO NOT recommend this dvd player at all. Below is the Ebay link but I got mine for $78 shipped by fedex. 4 days shipping from China to Louisiana. It is Eonon D0009 DVD player. Below is the Ebay link to one. I had to dremel the whole center console, take the dvd player apart and rearrange the circuit boards inside, and had to dremel the RCA cable....its ALOT of work, but more than doable. Let me know when you are doing your install and I will pm you my number and give you the "need to know before install"....I just got done driving 1,000 miles from Louisiana to Georgia and it works great!~

Sounds good!~ One thing that may help also is, if you plan on installing an amp/sub sometime, now or later, in your car I would recommend to pick up an amp kit (walmart, kmart, etc) and run the wires the same time you run your wires for your Navtool. Its a little different for our Type-S because of our active noise cancellation system installed in our cars. I actually blew my subs shortly after install due to this. Yea just send me a pm when you're ready for the install.

I just sent you a PM. Are you using Video 1 or Video 2? Some things I would check are:

1. Make sure the ground wires (Green, 2 white wires, and the navtool ground) are very securely grounded.

2. Ensure the power wire for the Navtool is running to the accs power (such as fuse #32)

3. If you have a factory backup camera do not wire up the blue wire (12v backup camera).

4. Make sure the Navtool plug and play system is plugged into the factory navigation plugs firmly.

5. Check your RCA video cable and ensure that it is connected firmly in the Navtool and DVD player (or equivalent). If you used a coupler to connect multiple RCA cables make sure they did not come loose.

I'm waiting for my amp kit. I should have it this week.
I'm also installing my H&R coilovers cause I already have my rear seats out. How did you run your wires for speakers?

I ran my power wire, remote wire, NAVtool video cable, and Video 2 power (blue wire) all through the driver side lower door sills.

'Preciate it!~ Its a fun and neat mod I think, but the resolution/picture quality isn't the greatest, but it does the job. Msala524 has an isimple for sale in the black market forum right now.

Lol awesome haha! Scott with his 16K "nice" posts.

To comment on your post, the install looks great. DVD at your finger tips. Mines in the rear armrest so kinda hard to change out the discs, but it cool mine holds 6 DVDs. The only thing I'd have done differently is place the switch in a hidden spot. But it does look clean maybe a black switch is what I would have done. Legit either way.

I think I read your thread also before I started. I do remember reading a member going all out with a DVD changer install. Yea the switch pops out easy to change if I wanted but still wanted to go with the "red" interior theme.

Later I will be using the additional "A/V in" on the dvd player and making a custom panel in the lower compartment to plug in additional A/V media sources....digital camera/camorder/ipod.

For Audio you use the Aux IN in the center console and plug that into the Audio OUT of the DVD player. The cable will be 3.5mm to RCA audio plug you need to buy (radio shack, best buy).

This is the DVD player I had my heart set on. Its a Veba AV2705. They sell in the UK only. The front panel folds down and has a central slot for an sd card, and usb slot. I was going to take the front door off and install it the same place as my current DVD player.

Here a link on it....

I seriously almost considered cutting up the glovebox for my install but I am very hardheaded and told myself it "will" fit in the center compartment. The glove box may cost alot more to replace then the center console if you decide to sell/trade in later down the road. I figured since I hacked up the center console, the switch is in the same piece so if I replace it later, I wont be replacing multiple parts. Have you thought about in the center of the arm rest? I considered this area also.

Is it a 1/2 DIN, 3/4 DIN, DIN, or 2 DIN size? Have you thought about the center console where the cup holders are in the rear seats? Several members have used this area. You can extend your IR remote cable so you can still use a remote for the dvd player without turning around to the back seat.

No holes in the arm rest. If you go on ebay you can buy a 12"x12" blank plastic panel. You can cut it to the size of the hole in the center of the arm rest and place the DVD player in there. It would be like a custom panel. Look up the model number on your and give me the dimensions and I'll let you know if it can or can't fit in the center.

Ok...well feel free to text me to if you got any questions u need answered right away. Here are the dimensions of my Eonon D0009 DVD player. 7" long x 6.8" wide" x 1" tall. As you can see in the picture below of my DVD player "left" and "right" are covered up by the center console. I cannot press the PWR button or the Eject button because of this. I made sure the remote had both buttons before I bought it. The only portion that is showing the portion labeled "center". It is damn near the exact size of a CD/DVD so make sure you take that into consideration.

My DVD player..."left" and "right" are covered by the center console. "center" is the only portion you can see it being mounted.

Here is an example of what I had to do with my RCA cables. Also this explains the wiring for Video and Audio for the DVD player.

I just checked my saved subscriptions and could not find it. I do remember someone giving a small DIY on how to remove the cup holders and the rear center arm rest.

Dammit man....Is the glove box an option? I do remember someone saying that the rear arm rest fits perfect for 3/4 din dvd players so a 1/2 din should would work also...I'll keep lookin for you....

I end up cutting up the same console as where you have your dvd player. I can get the door to close though which kind of sucks. Was there enough space in the back to move the dvd a little back to close the door?
