07 TL Speaker upgrade advice needed

Ok I love my TL, but between the ELS sound system being a little under powered and the speakers probably being mediocore at beast I am looking to maybe do a modest upgrade. I would like to avoid rewiring and adding amps, so is there a resonable speaker upgrade that might bring some extra clarity to the ELS as well as maybe being more efficient speakers so that i can get a little more volume? Any recommendations? I would be good with replacing all the speakers and the sub, with drop-ins. Thanks! It is a shame I had a 07 Camry with the 440W JBL and it kicked the ELS' ass it was powerful through the entire range and clear.

Here's a thread to get you started. Also do a search on Infinity and you should find some more information.

I just bought a 2007 TL. The sound system is poor. To get true aftermarket sound you will need new speakers, amps, and most importantly what is called a Audio Interface (TL Cleansweep and Alpine Imprint are 2 models) cost $300-500.

The reason is that the factory system has the EQ radically adjusted to compensate for the low grade factory speakers. If you just put in new speakers the signal they recieve will be the same radically adjusted EQ that is set on the factory system. Your new speakers will NOT SOUND AS clean and defined as they should. The Interface flattens the EQ curve (the way it should be) from the factory system before sending it to the after market amplifier. The sound difference is dramatically different. If you are a true audiophile you must include this piece of hardware. I am having the Alpine Imprint installed along with a 500w JL amp and Focal speakers in the front and back.

I did the full Infinity speaker upgrade... Don't waste your money on them.

The Infinity's sound better than the stock speakers, but not much better. Certainly not worth the time and effort to put them all in.

I ripped the Infinity's out after a week, and replaced them all with Focal speakers. Now we're talking difference! HUGE difference. They even sound good with the stock amp.

I've just ordered a Rockford-Fosgate Power 400-4 amp, and I plan to bypass the stock amp and run the Focal's from it.

Look at the Audison Amps made by same company as the Focal Speakers. I had their setup in my 2004 Subaru WRX Sti. Just front speakers with a 10" sub in the trunk. Amps was bridged to place all 4 channels into the front and 5th channel for the sub. Very good sound quality and a lot of punch. Not real loud - ~135 dB.
Good luck with upgrade. Haven't decided what to do to my TL yet.

Before I even started the system in the car...... I had the infinity kappas perfect 6.5 components threw them in and thought they were great..... well after the crossover blew i thought about it for a min and "they werent so great after all" so I went ahead and went a lil crazy with the system.... my friend swore up n down about beymas i said nah no way until he opened the door to his TL (NO extra amps no mod nothing just speakers) and no joke the sound was unreal.....so i said ok no problem i went and picked up 4 of them made a custom deck in the rear.....and cut the door panels on the inside so the panel/plastic doesnt touch the speaker, with a custom support for the speakers in the doors and i disconnected the stock tweeters....and i have a rockford amp thats only pushing out like 100watts max per channel thats not even tuned up in volume its up less than a quarter notch....I have 3 JL 10W6V2's.... lemme put it to u like this.....the bass is loud becuz its 3 subs......obviously, but the highs are so clear and so deep in response that even my cousin whos an audio engineer/producer turned around and said Im nuts.... he said hes never heard such clarity in car speakers before... its like being in a stadium with the speakers in ur face.
