05 TL and IPOD's
I have moved my entire personal life to Mac and am in the process of moving my tunes to an iPod in the near future. What is the best way to use an iPod with an 05 TL.
Is there a hook up in the back for AUX?
Are people still using FM transmitters?
Cassette tape in the deck with plugin to iPod?
By any chance is the Acura's bluetooth come into play here? Now that would be cool.
Thanks,
SuM
Pssst, Its a car nothing more... Your better off investing in Enron if you looking for a real return on your dollar.

the best way is just to sing the songs yourself.
do a search for "dice" its an electronic device that plugs into you factory changer port and lets your radio and steering wheel control you ipod. charges it too.

Thanks for the quick reply, I did search and found the "DICE" VERY VERY long thread. I read a few pages and like this but still looking for some other options before I make a decision. I also see the blue tooth is out of the question.

Get a Monster cable from Best Buy or something similar (with a stand). It hooks up to the "cigarette lighter." It's basically an FM transmitter. It also charges you ipod at the same time. It works on certain radio frequencies. I get relatively good clarity. Only draw back is that you can't control it with through the car. It's manual.

if you want a quick fix until getting a permanent player for the ipod you could go buy one of them tape player converters (the tape that has the auxillary wire on it) and and make use of our outdated tape player. Cant really control the volume or anything from the steering wheel but you will be able to play it and change songs and volume from the ipod itself. Cost of about $10 or so. Works until a suitable replacement can be found!!!

Id say the best quality sound you can get from your ipod is a direct connection to the car. I think dice would be the best, and since 04-07 or whatever doesnt have an aux port, I'd say the next best thing is the casette player. I've had horrible experiences with the fm transmitters (expensive and a hassle to keep changing stations).

dude get yourself the Ipod connection from honda/acura and call it a day. no bs to mess with other than the install its compatible with all new and old ipods other than the shuffle. and u just go to cd mode to activate it......first thing i bought for the car was the integration unit i had more cd's than i think have been created in history, it was ridiculous. i had one problem with it because one of the connections came loose but that was my fault. other than that im extrmeley happy. the one reason i say go with it from honda acura.....is because its made for the car and u can get em on ebay for cheap

I have the USA Spec and love it. Best mod so far and haven't listened to the radio since.
The determining factor for me was to keep as much OEM functionality as possible (e.g., volume, skip, etc.)

I just got mine, and installed it. LOVE IT!!!! The install is very simple, but getting to the back of the head unit is tricky.
Better sound quality than a tape or FM mod. If you call Dice they will tell you which one to order. I don't have NAVI, and didn't care about keeping XM. Who cares about XM when you have an ipod anyways? LOL! Just read the directions, and make sure you have the dice unit set properly to work in XM mode. You unplug the XM from your head unit, and then the dice unit plugs into that spot. You'll see, it's pretty straight forward.
Good Luck.

What year are we in? 2008. There should never be one of these in your TL nor should the FM transmitter, they both suck! Do it right and get the dice unit or some other unit that is a plug and play. You will be really sorry to here the static from the fm transmitter or the constant hiss from the metal head to metal head of the very outdated cassette tapedeck.

If your an audiophile i don't think you will like an Ipod via the tape deck. The quality is notably better, though the tape deck is the fast way.

check out the audio FAQ. There are adapters that come close to full integration, the PG-AMX comes pretty close.
