04TL. HFL and iPhone 4

I paired up the iPhone 4 with no issues. Problem is 2 fold.

First, when turning on the car, hfl and the phone will not automatically connect. I have to go into the settings on the iphone and manually connect to HFL.

Second, while on the phone using HFL, almost always HFL seems to lose the connection to the phone. At this point the call goes back through the phone itself and the radio display stays at Phone. Hitting end call on the HFL controls do nothing. I have to hit the call button, then the end call button to return back to the radio.

Anyone else with an iPhone 4 running 4.0.1 run into this issue? If so what did you do to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have no issues with my iphone 4. It does take a long time before it pairs up after starting the car. Other than that, it works perfectly.

I have also had no problems with mine. It does take a while to sync also...

However, when someone calls me I don't see a number... Just "Incoming Call". However, The dealer is replacing my Nav system and the HFL. Maybe it will work better after they update! Fingers crossed!

Are you running iOS 4.0.1? My 3G phone had no issues, even with iOS 4.0. Wondering if there is something with iOS 4.0.1 that is causing this.

I could have been in the car and driving for over 20 minutes and it still won't automatically connect to HFL. I have to tell it to connect every time.

do you guys still have the original HFL module on your 2004 TL, or was the module replaced at some point by either you or a previous owner?

I have 4.0.1 on my iPhone 4 and it won't even pair. I get to the part where it says "What would you like to name this device?" I answer, it pauses for 10 seconds and then back to the main pairing menu. It can't seem to talk to my iPhone 4 very well.

Just happened to me this morning... Tried 20 times at least. I was about to install my spare HFL module from my navi install and I remembered I upgraded to ios 4.0.2 last night, I was in the process of figuring out how to revert to 4.0.1 when I figured I give it a try again. It worked! So my advice is keep at it!

Here's everything I don't think is relevant but may be:
Key in ACC mode, not on.
I was entering the code for the last time I paired it in my phone before HFL asked for a new one. Entered the same 4 digits at the same time, found phone IMMEDIATELY. Named it (work piece of shit), took so long I was sure it was a fail, and 10 secs after it accepted.
And it was raining, monsoon style.

Hope it helps.

Sometimes my iPhone 4 is found instantly by the car and sometimes it takes a while. If it doesn't find it at all, I turn off the car for a second and then turn it back on. It finds it immediately.

Argh. I'll have to try that. Technically, I shouldn't bother as talking on the phone is illegal if you're under the age of 18 in Indiana. But bluetooth is much safer if I need to. Obviously.

I am still on the original module that came with the car when I bought it. Didn't have issues with my 3G iphone at all running on ios 4. So just trying to figure out at this point if it is the version of ios or the version of the iphone that I have.
