04 TL Basslink input wire question, suggestions.

Ready to install Basslink II in 04 TL, my plan for the input wire is to get it from the stock sub signal using a RCA Y connector in order to get two output wires to go to the basslink RCA input. I know it will work but just curious of what others had done to get an input sinal. I can get it from the speakers also but no need to go that route if the same results. Anyone done similar route? Also, should I just tap into the stock sub signal so stock sub is still functional or disconnect? Thanks.

I removed the rear speaker panel today and I need to do something with that weak stock sub because it just rattles under heavy load. Should I remove it because I have a Basslink or replace it with a JL along with the basslink?
