*POLL* Sirius through factory head unit?
Ok I am starting this poll to get a head count on how many people would buy an adapter to connect Sirius instead of XM and have it controlled by the factory stereo. (i.e. see the Sirius in 07 TL thread)

i definetelly would buy an adapter... something that works just like XM... uses the same XM button and dispalys on the navi.. i would love it... i could care less about the antenna... i have the starmate and i put the antenna on the dash, drivers side corner... never had any reception issues... i think the sirius would sound better with a direct link and i wouldn't have to switch radio stations when i go into different areas (i hate modulators)

I've been watching the Sirius/XM threads for a while. What's the differentiator between the two? Why do people think the grass is greener on the Sirius side. Sure I enjoyed Howard when he was on and wouldn't mind getting his show now, but is that the only differentiator? Are there that many NFL fans, or is there some channels that I just need to have?

honestly i bought Sirius closer to when howard was coming out. if howard didn't go to Sirius i wouldn't have bought it... but now that i have it i love it... i also like listening to bubba and i have become a fan of classic vinyl and the 80's channel which im sure XM probaly has the same thing... but since howard is on Sirius and my acura only offers XM i would like to integrate it into my car instead of losing a compartment space and jamming my unit into it, thus losing my cig adaper

I would for sure buy it. I had Sirius in my Accord and have been in severe Sirius NFL Radio withdrawal since I got my TL a few weeks ago. The music channels are actually pretty decent on XM. I just need the NFL Radio back in my life. I've been looking into it and the two things stopping me are mounting that antenna on the exterior of the car and not having that great XM interface through the Navi. I would for sure dish out the loot to get Sirius through the factory system.

i wouldnt buy it even though I have sirius..the portable units for sirius are so much cooler than the factory head unit. Check out a sirius s50 and you will see what I mean.

Response from Soundgate
Here is the response I recieved from Soundgate when I asked about an apater.
David,
We do not have any Sirius interfaces for Acura vehicles at this time, however this is on our to do list as we have seen a great demand for these vehicles. Hopefully something should be available in about 6-9 months.

Ive had sirius for 4 years now? I had XM first and ran into too many dropout areas (like the strength wasnt strong enough) like driving under trees and stuff, never have any drop out aress with sirius. It even works in my garage with dor closed where xm wouldnt. I like sirius programing better too

I recently spoke to someone at Soundgate and they said:
"There in currently no interface which will allow the factory radio in the TL
to control Sirius instead of the XM. If you want Sirius in this vehicle the
only option right now is to add a plug and play type of device with the
separate display/controller on the dash. "
"There are certainly plans for it (an Acura unit), however no time frame has been set yet. "

I have Sirius in my truck and I have been waiting for them to release a direct plug for the TL. Working in car stereo I hate protable units, and I dont want FM mod. The aux in helps, but I still want complete control on the Headunit.
Last time I talked to our Sirius rep, he said that they where working on something, so I am hoping that they get it out, as I want to drop the XM and go with all Sirius!!
The music selection is better and the quality of the music is better. They use a different compression then XM so it really sounds better. Not to mention the unedit, unmolested music. Its all original, no editing. I really get tired of hearing the same songs over and over, and they are edited!!! So I am ready to get Sirius. Not to mention you can save if you have more then one receiver.
And I am not just saying this because I have stock in Sirius. There technology is better, XM just beat them to the punch on the release date. Also, they have talked about doing video feed over there bandwidth for the kiddies overheads. What I wouldn't give to have cartoon network playing in the car!!!! How cool would that be!!!!

i would definitely buy one. im so sick of the MLB package on XM. im more of an NBA and NFL guy and i would love to get that installed and would considering purchasing a subscription to satallite radio if i can get sirius on my factory unit.

Its too bad Acura is such a HUGE investor in XM-----by them essentially marrying themself to XM for god knows how long they will never be able to offer people the choice they want. Sirius! Stern, NFL, NBA and great channels like Octane make sirius the choice for sateliite content. XM will probably be out of business in a few years...they have taken a huge step downward since stern came to sirius.

XM is ok and it comes in handy evey once in a while, but the Sirius catalog is much deeper and there is definitely more programming variety!!!
In other words - Yes, I'm totally down for a fully integrated Sirius unit.
