Zaino question

Do I really need to use the ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive before using Z-2 Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes. I just bought the Z-2 and was going to use just that. Will that be fine?

Thats what I did. I think you would only use the accelerator if you were going to immediately do another coat. I waited a day and it turned out fine.

I'm sure it looks great. You're supposed to use Z-1 with Z-2 if you don't use ZFX. ZFX allows you to put multiple layers of Z-2 on the same day. It quickens the drying process. Go to www.zainostore.com and there are many helpful tips there. Sal Zaino has some pretty strict recommendations.

Yup. ZFX just allows the Z2 to dry quicker. The wait time should be less between coats as a result. It isn't absolutely necessary.

I have tried it both ways, Donte, and the ZFX is REALLY much faster and the results are exactly the same. The ZFX is definitely worth the money.

You don's use it before, you are supposed to mix the two and use the mixture.

If you don't use the ZFX, you MUST use Z-1 FIRST as a primer for the paint, and every 6 months or so. If you don't Z-! before the first coat, the polish won't stick to the paint.

The ZFX serves as a primer as well as a curing accellerator.

just visited the http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc link and looks like i'm gonna be another converted user. man...this stuff look great. look at some of the pics sent in by users....the finish on the g35 below is incredible and looks like glass.

I have a question....after I apply the multiple coats (dawn, clay bar, ZFX+Z2, ZFX+Z2, Z5). When I wash the car the next time, what detergent(?) can I use to wash with without affecting the beautiful shine or removing the zaino coats? Also how often show I reapply the zaino coats again?

Hmm, here's what I got from Zaino when I spoke to them...

New car process.
1. Wash it with Dawn.
2. Claybar it (using Z7 as a lubricant.)
3. Wash it with Z7.
4. Apply the Z2+ZFX, wait 30 minutes and buff off.
5. Shine car with Z6.
6. Repeat 4&5 up to three times.

When you wash your car, just wash it with Z7.

Apply one coat Z2+ZFX every couple of months.

Would not the last step be Z6 instead of Z5?

Also, how many applications do you get with a set of these?

Has anybody used the Z-12 glass polish? It looks like it might be a good purchase for my older car.

Z6 should always be your last step if u want to look like that G35 in the pic attached. I have used the z12 before, its works great. When you use it use a small amount. Dont try to do the entire windshield all at once, do it in atleast 2 sections.

oops sorry, my bad, you're right

per site:

You can switch to Z-2 as soon as you are happy with the way the paint finish looks. Example, no more swirls, scratches etc. It's up to you. Z-2 has higher optical properties than Z-5. You can go from Z-2 to Z-5 and then back to Z-2 as often as you want. Z-2 and Z-5 are 100% compatible and interchangeable. You should always end with Z-2 as the last coat because of its higher optics.

Use Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" spray as per directions, between each and every coat of Z-5 or Z-2. It really helps give a three dimensional look.

It's antistatic properties will reduce dust and dirt pickup by 60%. Z-6 can be used immediately after removing Z-2 or Z-5 or right before applying the next coat of Z-2 or Z-5. Most of my customers prefer to use Z-6 both, before and after Z-2 or Z-5 for that extra gloss boost.

Regular Maintenance
The number of coats of Z-2 or Z-5 is up to you. When you reach the level of enhancement you like, normal maintenence with Z-7 Car Wash and Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" spray is all that's necessary. Naturally apply a coat of Z-2 or Z-5 whenever you feel it is required.

I'm no pro yet, but practice will make perfect!

Just put in my order for a set of Zaino products. I will have my work set for me as I will do my new TL and my old Monte Carlo.

Hope both turn out great.

Do you do the full blown zaino process 2 times a year?

The rest of the times do you use the Z-7 show car wash?

I don't mind spending 6 hours twice a year to make the car look great and protect the paint. The rest of the time i want to wash and clean the car in 45 minutes. Unfortunately time is not on my side.....

You'll have to zaino everyday in the dead of winter, twice before it snows and 3 times after for me to give up those Michelins :p

I have tried, there is still something there but its not as noticable as before. The tires would probably fixed the problem completely if my allignment or the balancing of the tires were correct. As noted before the track to the right on hard acceleration. I have to really try to get it to happen, then I'm not sure if it is happening or I'm just being extremely picky. I had a friend drive my car, told him what to do to get the vibration and he couldn't find it. Then again I should have been in the car when he did it to see if he followed directions.
