Your opinion on the price

http://www.vandergriffacura.com/used...6f5a7417e5.htm

Yesterday the price was 13,500.

I called the dealership and they said the price increase was due to the high gas prices.

But I told the internet sales manager I already spoke with him when it was 13,500 and he said he would give me a $300 coupon as well, lowering it to 13,200 before taxes/title.

13,200 @ 103k miles without the 105k service done.

OTD he quoted me at 14,300.

The price is ridiculous seeing how the 105k service will be another $1,000.

Do you think i'd get quoted a better price if I go to the dealership rather than negotiate over the phone?

I'm also paying straight cash so shouldn't that help lower the price?

Let me know your thoughts.

it sound like the internet manager trying to bring the price up on you. BTW I know it suck to find an Acura in TX (especially in Houston) since every body buying BMW and Lexus. I would trying to ask him OTD $14.5k with 105k service done.

Never bought a car from vandergriff, but when I was shopping for a TL I was looking at one in person at the lot at vandergriff acura in Arlington and the sales rep was a dick. I tried to talk to him about the price and negotiating and everything he said was no no no. He didn't even seem interested in talking to me about selling it. This was in Jan of 2011.

I was looking at a used 2007 base w/ NO-navi and ~60-70k miles and it was for about $17.5-$18.5 (I think). I ended up getting a used salvaged title 08 w/ navi & 30k miles @ $15 otd

I would go in person to speak to them for yourself and maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

One thing for sure is DO NOT TELL THEM HOW YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE CAR until you are about to sit down to do paper work.

I heard from someone that if you tell the dealership that you are going to pay cash, they'll crunch up some numbers that will make it sound like a cheaper deal but in the end you get screwed (paying even more). IDK exactly how all that works out but just food for thought.

Where in the Dallas area do you live?

Simple.

13.5K OTD or you're going OTD.

Money means nothing. They actually don't make much money off of straight cash. They make most of there money from financing.

I live in Rockwall actually, down I-30E.
Sadly I already told him over the phone i'm paying cash assuming that would greater my chance of negotiation due to my brother's confidence that it would lower the price a good amount.. lol

Might just have to talk to another sales representative when I get there.
I also found a TL at Mac church hill that's priced at 13,900 before fees but they said they're willing to negotiate of course.

At Mac church hill, the tl is 06 and 96k miles, and I could maybe talk it down to the same price as the one at vandergriff.

Yeah, I would like to get 13.5k OTD, and get the 105k service done hopefully a bit cheaper than $1k but professionally of course.

I agree. Ask for 13.5k OTD or just go somewhere else. That whole thing about raising the price because of gas prices sounds like complete bull to me. Also, use the fact that you are paying in cash as a negotiation tool. They will usually always bring down the price if you are paying with cash.

when buying a car you should never tell the sale rep how you gona pay for it. You tell them after you and the rep agree with the price, the Honda dealer where I bought my TL never asking me how are you gona pay for it until we finalize the paper work (after I put down deposit). Also trying to hide any expression about your impression toward the car if the sale rep see it most likely they won't lower the price. If you say "I am paying cash" they would sale the car for max value and make money on it and if you say "finance" they will give you a good deal (value) on the car but interest will be high.

Makes sense, but what if they ask "What method are you paying with?"

Should I just simply reply "Not sure yet."?

Tell them that you'll talk about it once you both agree on a price.
