I saw a post about gas and got thinking... what does everyone like to use. So I thought I would open up this poll.
If you post please post why you like the brand and what octane you use.
Thanks

I used EXXON 'cause its gas stations are nearby where I live and where I frequently visit.

CostCo gas! They sell 91 (as high as you can go in CA) and they're usually 20¢ cheaper than the rest of the gas stations. The difference between $2.55 and $2.35 can be felt heavily by the wallet.
Oh yeah.. I like to use Texaco. The gas seems more consistant then the others. But in the past I would use 76, Chevron, or Mobil. I try to stay away from Arco... everytime I have ever tried it my other cars would hate it.
OH and one more thing... I noticed that Chevron in my area only had up to 91 Octane but Texaco has 93 Octane and the price is just about the same. Anyone else experience this?
I was considering allowing people to make more then one choice, but I duno might get too messy. And I think it's too late now... What do you think Rets?

I use Shell.....only because I HAD a Texaco card and shell bought out Texaco.
Love my TL
I know very little about the chemical makeup of gas so sorry for the stupid questions..... I’m a computer programmer not a chemist!
I thought 93 octane was 93 octane? Since gas is regulated by the Uncle Sam doesn't it all have to meet a standard? Also, I was under the assumption that there are really only a few main distributors. Does the gas at each of these gas stations actually have different chemical makeups?
I usually fill up at SAMs to save a few cents.

Anyone heard about Shell's new V-Power gas. Supposedly it cleans intake valves and fuel injectors because it has 5 times the cleaning agents required by the government. I have yet to try this new super gas and I must say I am very curious to how well it preforms. If anyone has any insite or knowledge of this new product I would be very interested in hearing what you have to say. And by the way I use either Exxon/Mobile(same company now) 93 octane never lower. ExxonMobile gets first dibs on all oil then companies like Texaco, Sunoco, Shell and Irving get whats left. Not saying those gas stations have lesser oil, but that is a fact.

I don't know it all when it comes to gas, but I do know that they do have different detergents and chemical additives. I thought 93 octane was 93 octane? I found this information below doing a quick search... it was posted at http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/stor...101/page1.html. Has some good Q/A on gas.

Are all gasoline brands alike?
No. The actual composition produced at different refineries in the country can vary, even within the same brand. Formulas are different for each climate and season. Additives, such as detergents, are different between brands. Laws are different for each area of the country regarding oxygenated gas to help improve emissions. Even the way wholesalers, transporters and gas station operators store and manage their stock can make a difference. It is possible to get a bad batch of gasoline. When you find a brand and station that suits your needs, stick with it.

BP Amoco Ultimate 93.
Like their commercials used to say,"YOUR CAR KNOWS". Believe me, mine does!
I won't put in anything else unless I'm in a situation where there's no choice.

Whatever it is that comes out of the nozzle at Sam's Club (I wonder what it is). No complaints about the quality - everything we fill up there runs well, from the last TL and my current QX4 (Premium 91), to the 3/4 ton pickup to the 11 year old Jeep (both on Regular 87). The lower price saves me a fortune!
Let's see... 16 gallons a week times the 5c I save is 80c per week. That's roughly $41.60 a year for the QX4 alone! Of course, the mpg sucks... 16-17 on 50/50 freeway and roads.

I use Sunoco or Amoco when I can find it. But...I really can't tell the difference using any brand of quality gas. I won't use regular to save a few cents.....only a good brand of premium for my car.

Agree with your reasons. Plus, with speedpass and Exxon/Mobile Mastercard there is a 3 % rebate. Every little bit helps

The poll is interesting, but not all brands are available in all areas. And octane ratings vary from place to place too, even for a given brand, because of local formulations and government intervention.
Around here all our gas has to have 10% ethanol by law and you seldom see 93 octane - 91 is about the max.
Around here we're undergoing a change in available brands with Exxon/Mobil going away in favor of Citgo with Texaco disappearing and being replaced by Shell in some cases. And just about everywhere Amoco is slowly morphing into BP.
